Conversation Street Episode 225

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 4th and the 10th November. It was another strong week, in our opinion, with the big reveal of Sharif's affair - and his subsequent scarpering - being the highlight. Seemingly going against popular opinion online, we also loved all the Caz stuff, as admittedly unrealistic as it maybe was. The only real downside was Anna and Kevin's pointless and short-lived break up - Anna's had about as much screen time with her so-called boyfriend this year as she's had with Emily Bishop, so we did struggle to care when she dumped him! Next up, we take a look at Sharif's brief time on the Street with a character profile, and ponder what's next for the Nazirs. In The Kabin, we take a look at some interesting statistics from The Press Association, then we round off the show with some listener feedback.

Conversation Street Episode 224

We've got a busy Friday and Saturday ahead, so we're coming at you early this week, covering the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 31st October and the 2nd November. It's Halloween in Weatherfield, with Steve and Kirk competing to be the ultimate Uncle Fester, Mystic Mary telling fortunes in the Rovers, and Anna's legs doing their best Freddy Kreuger impression. Meanwhile, as Caz appears to be playing a nasty trick on Maria, Rana's treated to a fabulous diamond ring when she agrees to marry Zeedan. In the Kabin, we take a look at some of the Corrie cast's scarily good Halloween outfits, then we round off the podcast with some feedback from listeners old and new.

Conversation Street Episode 223

Our latest podcast focuses on the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 24th and the 29th October in the UK. It's a classic aftermath week this week, with plenty of trips to and from Weatherfield General and a variety of dire prognoses. Meanwhile, back on the Street, Michelle and Steve eagerly await his genetic testing results, and Gary gives Sarah a thorough oral examination in the ginnel. After Street Talk we move onto this week's feature discussion, and a topic that isn't exactly our forte: the world of sport! We delve into the various stories over the years that have had a sporting theme, from inter-pub Olympics to ping-pong, and do some mini character profiles on some of Weatherfield County's top players. In the Kabin, we look over some behind the scenes info about last week's fiery stunt, then round things off, as always, with some feedback from our lovely listeners.

Conversation Street Episode 222

It's been a big week for Corrie this week, both on-screen and off, and we start today's episode with a tribute to Jean Alexander, including an obituary, short discussion and some clips of some of Hilda's most memorable scenes. From there, we launch into the regular Street Talk section, and a lengthy chat about of what's easily been one of the most exciting Weatherfield weeks of the year - the 17th to the 21st October in the UK. Going into the week, all we knew was that Peter would be returning, and that David would presumably try to carry out his plan to blow up himself and Clayton, so we were on the edge of our seat for most of the five episodes! David's imprisonment in the Bistro cellar, his Shawshank-style break out attempt and Friday's climax were  all brilliant (though Michael's certainly had his fill of Corrie car crashes for now..), but the biggest shock of the week was Ken's stroke on Monday - we're really looking forward to seeing how the Barlow clan cope with this one! Our latest podcast covers the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 10th and the 14th October in the UK. Although there were some peripheral stories involving the likes of Faye, Phelan and the Barlows, the main focus of the week was squarely on David's revenge plot and Steve's discovery that he could have inherited a rare genetic condition. Both interesting routes for the stories to go down, for sure - we're especially looking forward to finding out the extent of David's plans next week - but it did make for a rather dark and depressing few episodes of Corrie! After Street Talk, we do a classic character profile, this time focusing on cabbie Don Brennan. Like David, Don had a bit of a dark side, and had a number of suicide events involving his taxi, so we thought we could make a few comparisons with this week's developments there! The Kabin this week starts off with the terrible news of Jean Alexander's death - a story that broke in the middle of us recording the show. We also cover the longlist for next year's National Television Awards, and some charity related stories. As always, we round off the podcast with some listener feedback.

Welcome to Episode 220 of Conversation Street, where we talk about Corrie between the 3rd and the 7th October in the UK. A great mix of storylines on the show this week, and some fantastic acting from Jack P Shepherd as David gets beaten up by Lauren's dad then arrested when Macca ends up being hospitalised. We also loved all the comedy the week had to offer too, including the latest updates to Andy's novel and the rivalry between Steve and Tim over their new football friend. The Pat's Flats story also continued to grip us, with Eileen coming closer than ever to finding out about Phelan's dodgy dealings. Surely the big reveal can't be far away now? After Street Talk, we tackle a couple of listener questions, the first about whether Corrie could survive in a spoiler-free world, and the second asking which characters we'd invite around to a dinner party. Next, we take a look at how Corrie fared in the Inside Soap Awards (plus more red carpet fashion talk, of course!) and hear some listeners' thoughts on Mary in the feedback section. We round off the show with some spoilery talk about a return to the cobbles for another popular pair. Yes, that was a boobs reference - what else can you expect when Michael writes these things?

On our latest podcast, we discuss the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 26th and 30th September in the UK. Some sad episodes for dog lovers this week, as Ozzy falls foul of Corrie's 'fine one minute, gone the next' curse. As he heads to the big dog kennel in the sky, crazy Caz sees an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and get closer to Maria. Speaking of taking advantage, Alya jumps at the chance to blackmail Sharif this week in order to get her lingerie side-line off the ground, and Sharif has to resort to desperate measures to  secure a flat for Sonia. Meanwhile, Todd does his best to try and win back gullible Billy, and we finally get to find out what made him turn to the dark side when he was living in London. After Street Talk, we try out a (kind of) new segment for the podcast: a character profile revisit. It's been more than 200 episodes since our last profile of Mary Taylor, and this week we take a look back over the past four years to see how things have changed for her. In The Kabin, we find out the shortlist for the Inside Soap Awards, and we end the show with feedback from three lovely listeners.

On the podcast this week, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 19th and 23rd September. So much for keeping that affair quiet eh, Sharif? It's only been a few weeks since his seven-year secret was revealed to the viewers, and already Alya's suspicious of Sonia and her grandfather's behaviour. Speaking of secrets, Cathy makes a shocking discovery about Alex's parentage this week, but will she be able to bring herself to reveal it to him? Meanwhile, it's the end of the road for Billy and Todd (hooray!) when it turns out who contacted the bishop last week, but what do we make of Todd's return to the dark side - and should Phelan really trust him? After Street Talk, we chat with Glenda Young about her recently released Coronation Street Colouring Book, before covering a couple of news stories involving Jack P Shepherd in The Kabin. This week's Conversation Street covers the episodes broadcast in the UK between the 12th and the 17th September. Strap yourselves in, folks - this podcast is a bit of a long one, thanks in part to some excellent plot developments in the show that we just couldn't stop talking about! First off, Beth's big secret is finally revealed, and it's something we were NOT expecting. Yes, her bigamous bombshell does seem to have split up yet another happy soap couple, but for the sheer drama it's caused (plus the fact it was kept quiet by ITV), we kind of don't mind! Next up, we have the Pat's Flats story, and THAT rooftop scene - incredibly tense stuff, and we can't wait to find out what happens next week. Then we have Billy considering leaving his position in the church over some silly fling with Todd... What's that? They love each other? Hmm... We're still not convinced. Street Talk is followed by an extended discussion of how religion has been portrayed on Corrie over the years. From Ena Sharples and Emily Bishop to Billy Mayhew and Zeedan Nazir, we cover a lot of ground here, and yes - that even includes the Cult of Nirab! In the news section, we review this year's must-have Christmas present for any Corrie fan: The Official Coronation Street Colouring Book, before hearing one listener tell us how she's growing to appreciate Maria in the feedback section.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 5th and the 9th September. The crazy Platt brothers are on fine form this week - first there's Nick, who kidnaps Steve and threatens to tell Michelle the truth about Leanne's baby's father; then on Friday, David unleashes his inner Sweeney Todd by giving Lauren a hair-raising experience in the barber's chair. Meanwhile, Todd's disdain for Billy's faith causes problems in the bedroom, and Caz prepares to make the moves on Maria. Next up, we do a classic character profile on Maxine Peacock, the hair stylist whose life was cut short thanks to serial killer Richard Hillman (she really should have stayed at that party...). We then celebrate Shayne Ward's win at the TV Choice Awards and take a look at the red carpet fashion from the Corrie ladies and gents. This is followed by the usual feedback, then the show finishes off with news of another character's return  to the cobbles (or will it be two more characters?) in Kabin Extra.
