Conversation Street Episode 168

This week on the podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street shown between the 21st and the 25th September in the UK. In a one-off change to the normal way of doing things, the Street Talk discussion just runs through each episode scene by scene - this is so we could insert the recording from our live reactions episode from Wednesday in between the Monday and Friday discussion. There were big developments for the Platt, Webster and Cropper storylines this week, which means a lot to talk about! As well as that, we say a fond farewell to Lloyd and Andrea on Wednesday... then again on Friday - but it still hasn't quite sunk in they're gone! In the Kabin we talk ratings and reviews for the live episode, and before hearing some listeners' opinions on the week in the feedback section.

Conversation Street Episode 167

We hope you've got plenty of time set aside this week, because unless we're mistaken, this is our longest podcast yet! We kick off the show with a discussion of the episodes broadcast between the 13th and 17th September in the UK. We're in the final few days before the live episode, and things are certainly building up for the Platt storyline. David thinks he's got Callum cornered by the end of the week, but we've got a sneaking suspicion that Weatherfield's campest drug dealer's going to be back on the streets before long... Meanwhile, the future for Cathy and Roy is uncertain when she confesses her feelings towards him to Anna, but at least we get a happy ending for Lloyd and Andrea - though time will tell how things will be left with him and Steve... For our feature discussion this week, we delve into Coronation Street's history of live episodes, ponder how next week's special will compare, and make some predictions around the big storylines. We then cover the news of two major exits in the Kabin, before hearing some listeners' opinions on Roy and Cathy's potential as a couple in the feedback section.

Conversation Street Episode 166

It's a bumper episode of Conversation Street this week, as we cover the eight episodes broadcast in the UK between the 3rd and the 11th September. Carla's guilt over the Victoria Court fire threatens to drive her over the edge this week, and she takes a gamble on her life. Meanwhile, the secret of Simon's violent behaviour towards Leanne finally comes out after he knocks her unconscious. The Windasses discover they may have lost Miley for good, but as one baby leaves, it looks like there's another one on the way for Andrea! In the Kabin, we celebrate Alison King's recent win at the TV Choice Awards, and in the feedback section, we ponder the best age for getting into Corrie.

Conversation Street Episode 165

In this week's early episode, we talk about Corrie between the 31st August and the 2nd September. On Monday's episode, everyone gathers in the Bistro for an auction in memory of Maddie, but an increasingly desperate - and drunk - Carla threatens to make the occasion memorable for all the wrong reasons. It's Kevin's 50th this week, which means it's time once more another Corrie surprise party - what could possibly go wrong? Feeling somewhat less celebratory this week are Tyrone and Fiz, who are anxiously waiting to find out what's wrong with Hope. Let's hope viewers have recovered from last year's loss of Hayley - this one's not looking like it's going to end well! There's little in the way of Corrie news this week, so we give the Kabin a miss, but we do have a few listener emails to read out at the end of the episode. This week's character profile is on everyone's favourite workshy windows washer, Tim Metcalfe.

The Callum cycle continues to turn this week, with Weatherfield's local drug dealer managing to evade capture yet again - has the time come for Tony to take the law into his own hands? It's a week of ups and down for Lloyd too - an old flame is rekindled, but what will Andrea say when she finds out? Meanwhile,  Cathy gets lumbered with teaching an art class at the community centre - can she help the neighbours to discover their inner Lowry? There are a couple of new faces on the Street this week, in the shape of outdoor enthusiast Dougie and the latest member of the Connor clan, Aidan. We give our impressions of these characters (after a little hiccup when we're each talking about a different person!) and share our thoughts on the week's episodes, which see Craig get a girl, Carla get a man, and Jason get a nasty beating. After saying goodbye to our guest, we move onto Street Talk, in which we cover the episodes broadcast in the UK between the 10th and the 14th August. This week, Simon kicks Leanne and hits the bottle - but with Ken on the case, how long can he keep his violent tendencies secret? Meanwhile, Lloyd's left in a spin when one of his records goes missing, and when Steph gets the wrong end of the stick after overhearing a telephone conversation, there's trouble in store for Luke and Maria. In the Kabin, we have a bit of a chat about the upcoming live episode now the date's been set, and we weigh up the chances of a relationship blossoming between Leanne and Zeedan in the feedback section.
