Conversation Street Episode 235

Our latest podcast covers the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 9th and the 13th January. This week's shows certainly got people talking, didn't they? Whether you found Michelle's miscarriage on Wednesday brilliant drama or deeply uncomfortable viewing, it can't be denied that Kym put in a powerhouse performance, made even more real by her own personal experiences. We talk about the issues this latest plot development has raised and consider what could be next for Steve and Michelle. Don't worry, though, it's not all doom and gloom - hopefully you'll at least find Gemma's attempts to work out the proper Irish spelling of Ruairi amusing! Also this week, Bethany continues to be lured in by the enigmatic Nathan, Andy rolls over for Phelan yet again, and Chesney is left red-faced after worming his way out of a night out with Sinead. Next up, to commemorate 40 years since her first appearance on the cobbles, we do a classic character profile on Suzie Birchall (no, we don't know much about her either!), look at some new unofficial Corrie merchandise in the Kabin, then finish off the episode with another set of listener emails.

Conversation Street Episode 234

The first podcast of 2017 has us discussing the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 30th December and 6th January. We don't know about you, but we certainly had Happy New Year when it came to Corrie watching this week, what with Jenny and Johnny taking centre stage for much of the seven episodes. The official 'Best New Couple of 2016' certainly had their ups and downs this week, but we were thrilled with how it all ended - now Johnny needs to get that wedding ring on her finger fast, before Aidan starts meddling. Still, if his schemes to split them up are anything like that busines plan he was putting together in the Bistro on Friday, we think they'll be okay. Elsewhere on the Street, Mary, Andy and Roy all decide to stay in Weatherfield after all (did anyone really expect them to leave?), and Phelan starts to put the wheels of his next evil scheme in motion. After Street Talk, we look at the Top 10 most featured characters on Corrie of 2016 in the Kabin, then finish off with a selection of comments from new listeners in the feedback section.

Welcome, one and all, to the Conversation Street Awards 2016! We've tallied all your votes, and now the time has come to reveal whose virtual mantlepiece will soon be adorned with one of our prestigious pixelly prizes. Which guys and girls will be crowned Top Lad and Top Lass? Which shocking moment had us all gasping "By 'Eck!"? Which new lovers have set our own hearts aflutter? Can anyone really beat Pat Phelan in his evil scheme to take home every 'Best Soap Villain' award there is going? Download Episode 233 and find out! Following the awards show, there is, as always, the after party, and the topic of conversation around the buffet table is, of course, a critique of the past 12 months on the cobbles. We round off the show with our 2017 predictions - all of which are 100% guaranteed to come true. Maybe.

 

Conversation Street Episode 232

In this week's episode of the podcast, we chat about the episodes shown in the UK between the 23rd and the 26th December. Christmas Day has arrived in Weatherfield, so let's cross off the usual tropes: Festive punch up? Check! Family secrets revealed? Check! Present mix-up? Character behind bars? Obnoxious incidental music? Check, check and check! Corrie certainly didn't go out of its way to do anything radically different this Christmas, but we didn't care, because we absolutely loved the hour-long special this week, and despite the identy of Peter's secret woman hardly being a shock, we were thrilled to see the return of Our Toyah to the cobbles. As well as that, we've had the arrival of Mary's son, the beginning of Billy's return to the Church, and some sinister and intriguing goings-on around Bethany. We'd like to thank all our listeners for tuning in in 2016, and wish you all a Happy New Year - we'll be back early January with the Conversation Street Awards!

Conversation Street Episode 231

Merry Christmas, everyone! Episode 231 is our last podcast before the big day, and covers Coronation Street between the 19th and the 21st December. Gemma is now in the know about Mary's secret son, and she attempts to harness the power of social media to find him. Her video isn't the only thing that gets around this week, though - Maria basically spends Monday and Wednesday's episodes fitting in as much nookie as she can before her court date, and nearly ends up getting herself gassed to death in the process. Meanwhile, Bethany's hoping for some bedroom action of her own as she tries to seduce Gary on a trip to Leeds. After Street Talk, we get all festive and count down our Top Ten Christmas Day moments on the Street, before sharing our thoughts on this week's Jean Alexander tribute show in The Kabin. We've got a Santa's sackload of festive feedback to get through towards the end of the podcast, and we round things off with a short discussion of some upcoming character departures in a Kabin Extra.

On our latest podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 12th and the 16th December in the UK. Roy and Cathy's countdown clock has reached zero and their wedding day has arrived, but will they actually make it down the aisle before Roy's true feelings are discovered by his bride-to-be? Meanwhile, Phelan winds up in hospital after Andy, in a rare show of doing something interesting, whacks him on the back of the head with a brick. We actually start to gather some compelling evidence that Phelan's some sort of cyborg when we get to discussing this part, so we hope you don't mind things getting a tad off topic! Also this week, Tim's lost Australia, Drunk Nick proves to be just as fun as Angry Nick, and Michelle actually has a scene that made us kind of like her a bit more! After Street Talk, we get all festive with a game of 20 Corrie Questions, find out CBC's Christmas schedules in The Kabin, and finish off with a bumper feedback section.

On this week's podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 5th and the 9th December. If you thought Beth's bigamy and Sharif's 7-year affair were difficult to believe, there's another shock in store for you this week: Mary's had a secret, long-lost son all this time! Also keeping secrets this week is Peter, who's clearly got another woman on the side - not that that stops him flirting outrageously with Leanne all week, though! We just like how it winds Nick up... Meanwhile, Roy makes a rash decision about his future with Cathy, and Nessa's back and causing mischief already. Following Street Talk, we launch the Conversation Street Awards 2016, listing and discussing the nominees in each category. Make sure you get your vote in by the end of the year! Up next, we whizz through some news items in the Kabin, before rounding off the episode with some listener feedback.

Conversation Street Episode 228

Episode 228 of Conversation Street sees us discussing Corrie between the 28th November and the 2nd December in the UK. After last week's superb episodes, this week had a lot to live up to, and, in our opinion, it didn't quite manage it. Yes, we had the climax of Caz's 'murder' storyline, but there were a few too many lucky coincidences leading up to her arrest for our liking. We also had quite a bit of filler content this week too, with the twins' scratchcard shenanigans and Tim's allotment storyline being perfect examples. At least we got a nice wedding out of the week, though, and we're looking forward to the prospect of more drama to come for Rana and Zeedan. After Street Talk, it's time for a listener questions segment, where we discuss our favourite Corrie weddings and what the future may hold for David. Next up, we remember the late Andrew Sachs' role in Corrie in The Kabin, before hearing some of our listeners' opinions on Phelan in the feedback section.

Conversation Street Episode 227

It's been a week and a half since our last podcast, which means we have the eight episodes between the 18th and the 25th November to cover. What a fantastic eight episodes they were, though! Kicking off with Michael kicking the bucket and ending with Phelan weaseling his way back into Eileen's affections after being shafted by Vinny, the Pat's Flats storyline was a triumph this week. Not only that, but the decision to bring the Barlow boys back to the Street also proved to be a wise one, with Daniel's suspicious behaviour and subsequent revelation about his upbringing proving to be an interesting development. On top of that, we had some hilarious Gemma scenes, more of the wonderful Yasmeen, and the return of one of our favourite comedy characters of late: Brian Packham. We don't have a middle section this week (though we do end up somehow end up spending 25 minutes singing the praises of our character of the week - no surprises who it is..) but there's still a bit of news to discuss, including Les Dennis' first post-Corrie project. We finish things off with some more listener feedback.

It's time for another midweek podcast, this time focusing on the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 14th and the 17th November. This week, Michael finally thinks he's got the ammo he needs in his mission to take down Phelan; little does he know, however, that Pat's got a secret weapon of his own stashed in his rucksack. Meanwhile, the Barlow dynasty in Weatherfield is bostered by two when Adam and Daniel return to the Street - we got real vibes of Ken vs. Mike in these two, and we're looking forward to seeing what they'll add to the show. It's been a while since Adam last graced our screens, so we thought it would be useful to have a quick refresher on him in the character profile section. Next, we weigh up the reliability of last weekend's Eileen Derbyshire rumours and check out the red carpet fashion at the RTS North West Awards, before rounding off the show with a bumper feedback section.
