Conversation Street Episode 642
Saturday Aug 24, 2024
Saturday Aug 24, 2024
In our latest edition of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown between the 19th and the 23rd August 2024 (Episodes #11,341 - 11,346).
How brilliant was Monday's episode, eh? I don't think any of us were expecting Dee-Dee to work out the truth about Joel this long before the wedding date, but it looks like the slimy solicitor has still got a few tricks up his sleeve to evade capture... All exciting stuff, but did the follow-up to the big reveal get a bit TOO police-heavy? And speaking of all things legal, Beth's counterfeit capers get her in Kirk's bad books this week, whilst Alina discovers that if you stand up to your nail bar traffickers in court, you might just be getting a knock on the door from Heavy For Hire... Also this week, Toyah's pleased to hear that her her medical issues are all ova, but surely it's only a matter of time before her nookie with Nick comes to light...
Up next on the podcast, we find out Corrie which stars up for an NTA this year and check out a few new tour options at the Coronation Street Experience, then we round things off with some more of your feedback.

Lucy-Jo Hudson Interview
Thursday Aug 22, 2024
Thursday Aug 22, 2024
Early 2005 was a dark time for the Street, and the Harris family certainly had their share of misery! And at the heart of it all was daughter Katy, who bludgeoned her father before coming to a particularly sticky end herself... With the episodes recently having aired on ITV3, we sat down for a chat with Lucy-Jo Hudson, who reflects on her two and a half years on the cobbles, the relationship with Martin Platt and the family's hasty - and harrowing - exit from the Street.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 12th and the 16th August (Episodes #11,335 - 11,340)
It's a big week for Toyah this week - not only does she have to deal with Nick's confession of love as she's recovering from major surgery, she's also roped into the whole blackmail plot with Rowan, who's demanding Nick pay him £20k by the end of the day - can't this poor girl catch a break? Meanwhile, the walls seem to be closing in on Joel - with both Dee-Dee and DS Swain starting to smell a rat, surely it can only be so long until he trips up and reveals his true colours? Also this week, Tyrone gets caught trying to get a DNA sample from Dorin, there's a new lodger at the Rovers and he's turning a few ladies' heads already, and Tracy makes a grand return to Weatherfield - and walks right into an argument with Cassie!
Up next on the podcast, we chat about what Corrie related bits and pieces you can expect to see if you're heading to Manchester Pride this coming weekend, and after some listener feedback on recent storylines, we delve into a Kabin Extra segment where we try to dissect the big, spoilery news that's had Corrie fans' tongues wagging over the weekend.

We Chat Lloyd Mullaney With Shipwrecked & Comatose Podcast
Thursday Aug 15, 2024
Thursday Aug 15, 2024
For this special episode, we team up with Mark from the Shipwrecked & Comatose podcast to chat all things Lloyd Mullaney, who of course was played by Red Dwarf star Craig Charles. With Mark never having watched an episode of Corrie before save for a handful of famous Lloyd clips, it was a lot of fun chatting about the character and how he was similar to - and different from - Dave Lister. Our discussion also covers some of Lloyd's biggest moments, the issues raised by stories such as Paul Kershaw's racist remarks, and what Mark found most surprising about his first experience watching our favourite soap. If you're a fan of Red Dwarf, you can listen to Shipwrecked & Comatose at the link below: https://pod.link/1514570118

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 5th and the 9th August (Episodes #11,329 - 11,334).
It'd been a long time coming, but this week, Alina popped back to Weatherfield to give evidence against her traffickers in court - and to the surprise of absolutely nobody watching, she didn't come alone...! And if this revelation isn't enough to rock the foundations of No. 9 on its own, Hope causes a bit of a furore this week too after coming back from the medical centre with a box of condoms - if only Tyrone and Joel had taken the same precautions, eh? Also this week, Sean's fuming to find Mason working at Speed Daal, Beth gets caught with her counterfeit goods and Amy's back from the retreat - but has she been brainwashed enough to hand over her inheritance to the Institute?
In the Kabin segment of the podcast, we take a look at the newly released synopsis of Maggie Sullivan's next Coronation Street novel, and we finish off the show with more of your feedback!

Dr Gaddas: A Decade of Badassery
Wednesday Aug 07, 2024
Wednesday Aug 07, 2024
This week marks ten years since Dr Gaddas first graced the cobbles of Weatherfield with her fabulous presence, and to mark the occasion, we chat about the impact she's had over the decade. Why is she such a fan favourite despite making only a handful of appearances each year? Would we like to see her become a regular in the vein of DS Swain? And which Corrie characters have got Gaddas to thank for still being in the land of the living? All this, plus a look at some of the other projects that actress Christine Mackie has got up to over the years - and she's certainly been keeping herself busy! If, like us, you're a fan of the good doctor, this episode is for you!

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown between the 29th July and the 2nd August (Episodes #11,323 - 11,327).
Not gonna lie, this was definitely a bit of a 'meh' week for us this week, despite some clearly dramatic things going down on the cobbles. From Lauren's early labour to the whodunnit surrounding the fire at Stefan's office, it was all very exciting on paper... but yeah, we just weren't really feeling it. Did that stop us having a right old laugh discussing everything that was going on, though? Of course not! And we DID get to see more of the marvellous Debbie Webster, plus we were definitely satisfied with the ongoing developments in Paul's story too! And will Alina be popping back onto the Street soon... maybe with a tiny Tyrone in tow..? Guess we'll just have to wait and see!
Very little in the way of news again this week, so we give the Kabin a miss again, but we did of course get a bundle of feedback about last week's fantastic Paul and Billy special, so we round off the episode reading out some of your thoughts.

Corrieliminator Round 4
Thursday Aug 01, 2024
Thursday Aug 01, 2024
We're back for the fourth round of Corrieliminator, the game where we pit 30 randomly selected Coronation Street characters against each other and rank them, with only the top three making it through to the final round. This month, we've got some pretty big names like Hilda Ogden and Bet Lynch going head to head, and it's battle of the battleaxes as Ena Sharples, Evelyn Plummer and Ivy Tilsely are all thrown into the mix! Make sure you have your say in the listener vote this round by heading over to https://forms.gle/BdrmeRoekKwFvFTn6 and picking your top three characters!

Saturday Jul 27, 2024
On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 22nd and the 26th July (Episodes #11,317 - 11,322).
This week on Coronation Street saw another special episode dedicated to Paul and Billy's storyline, and what an episode it was! Masterful performances from the two leads, and a heartbreaking script that had us on the edge of our seats as that clock ticked towards midnight... and just to keep you guys in suspense (and also to facilitate an earlier recording session for us, to be honest!), we actually left this story until last to discuss this week. Still plenty to digest from the other stories as well though, including Toyah's devastating diagnosis, Stu taking pity on Mason and Kevin and Abi's hilarious evening out at the hotel to try out Debbie's new tasting menu! And speaking of which, wasn't Debbie fantastic on Wednesday's episode? Much more of this, Corrie, please!
Not a whole lot in the way of Corrie news this week, and with the podcast already running long, we decided to give The Kabin a miss - but of course, after the feedback section, there's still time to sneak in a little Kabin Extra to chat about a bit of spoilers news that hit Corrie's socials this week...

As well as going to the red carpet for the Radio Times Soap Awards, we also got the time to spend some of our recent trip to Manchester doing another handful of Corrie related activities! From staying in the hotel that once welcomed the likes of Stephen Reid, Mike Baldwin and Tracy Barlow to visiting the shop where Gemma Winter-Brown nicked a pair of shoes from, we visit some more Corrie filming locations, and even track down the elusive Coronation Street tram!
