Sally Ann Matthews Interview
Thursday Nov 18, 2021
Thursday Nov 18, 2021
As you know, we're massive Jenny Connor fans here on Conversation Street, and this week, we thought it was about time we invited Sally Ann Matthews back on the podcast to chat about how life on the cobbles has been for her since taking over as Rovers landlady. Losing a husband, gaining a step-daughter, sinkhole dramas, drunk acting and of course, THAT tasering scene with Sharon... We have a good old natter about all this and more, in this week's bonus show!
Sal's currently raising money for five fantastic causes with 50 5K runs. If you'd like to send a bit of cash her way, her fundraising site is open until the end of November here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=SallyAnnMatthews&pageUrl=1

Conversation Street Episode 496
Friday Nov 12, 2021
Friday Nov 12, 2021
With the Weatherfield week ending on Wednesday this week, we're coming at you a little earlier with our latest podcast, which covers the goings on in Coronation Street between the 8th and the 10th November (Episodes #10476 - 10481). Not only that, but with Michael testing positive for COVID on Tuesday night and subsequently isolating from Gemma, we've also had to be a bit creative with how we've watched Corrie and recorded the podcast this week, so apologies for the sound quality not being up to its usual standard!
That all aside, we actually quite enjoyed this week's Corrie - although with all the overlapping of stories going on (we're looking at YOU, Kelly, Aadi and Summer!) we admit we did find it was a bit of a tricky Street Talk segment to manage at times! As we predicted, the Street residents seem to have forgotten their environmental principles just as quickly as they developed them this week, with not a hint of the Red Red bypass story getting a mention; instead, the main action seemed to have revolved around Kelly's release from prison (ooh, controversial!), Summer's crush on an oblivious Daniel, and Natasha's funeral, which gave us some more fantastic scenes for Sam, who managed to get us right in the feels without even uttering a single word!
Up next on the podcast, we have the Kabin segment, where we chat about an exciting Corrie fan event that's taking place next month - a bit too far for us to travel, sadly! - and some new details on the next Corrie novel by Maggie Sullivan. We finish off the show with more of your listener feedback.

Squid Game: Corrie Style!
Monday Nov 08, 2021
Monday Nov 08, 2021
If there's one thing that a lot of Corrie viewers can agree on, it's that the show could do with a bit of a good old fashioned soap cull at the moment. And how better to trim the fat than by pitting a bunch of our least favourite characters against each other in a series of brutally reimagined British playground games? 30 characters enter the arena, and only one will make it through alive - who'll be keeping George in business for many weeks to come, and which lucky contestant will be the sole survivor? Find out in Coronation Street: Squid Game!

Conversation Street Episode #495

Saturday Nov 06, 2021
On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 1st and the 5th November (#10470 - 10474).
It's the week of Abi and Kevin's wedding, but after Debbie finds out about her sister-in-law-to-be's murderous intentions for Corey, it looks like there could be a couple of roadblocks they need to get past before this pair of mechanics can give each other a good servicing. Speaking of roadblocks, it all kicks off outside the Community Centre this week when Maria decides to protest the council meeting about the new by-pass through the Red Rec. Bring back Emily and Spider, we say - they'd be able to get this mess sorted in no time! Also this week, Emma's engaged and Corey gets caged.
Up next on the podcast, we share some good news about Coronation Street: The Tour, which looks set to re-open in the Spring, bigger and better than ever, and we round off the show with more of your listener feedback.

Corrie / EastEnders Crossover Chat with Walford Weekly
Wednesday Nov 03, 2021
Wednesday Nov 03, 2021
On our latest show, in celebration of the crossovers that we're seeing this week between all the UK soaps, we've teamed up with Alex and Rob from Walford Weekly for a special bonus podcast. For the past week, we've been diligently tuning into EastEnders whilst they've been catching up with the latest goings on in Corrie, and in this podcast, we get together to talk about how we found the experience! As well as sharing our thoughts about the characters and storylines in each other's soaps of choice, we chat about how we felt the crossover scenes have gone so far and discussed the future of the genre in this ever-changing television landscape.

On the latest Conversation Street, we chat about all things Corrie from the week of the 25th to the 29th October (Episodes #10464 - 10469)
It's the calm after the storm in Weatherfield, and this week, the residents are all facing the consequences of Harvey and the Horror Nation Hurricane. While Jenny's drowning her sorrows and looking for someone to blame (looks like, unlike Natasha, the Platts have dodged a bullet there!), the Alahan clan has been torn apart after last week's car crash. Top of the tragedies this week, though, is Natasha's death. People are saying that Johnny's untimely demise was a little heavily telegraphed in the episodes leading up to Super Soap Week, but seriously - have we not all seen this coming for Natasha since the minute she set foot back on the cobbles last year with a new son for Nick? Also this week, Nina and Asha go searching for more clues to incriminate Corey, and it looks like by the end of Friday's episode, it could well be in the bag!
Up next on the podcast, we take a trip to The Kabin to find out what's been going on in the news this past fortnight, and we end the show with some of your thoughts about last week's epic episodes.

Conversation Street Episode 493 Part 2
Sunday Oct 24, 2021
Sunday Oct 24, 2021
In this special edition of the podcast, recorded on location from our holiday home in Dorset, we chat (very quietly so not to wake Gemma's parents!) about the epic episodes of Coronation Street that were broadcast in the UK on the 22nd October.
The bar had been set high and our disbelief had been well and truly suspended following Monday and Wednesday's episodes, and we settled down in front of the telly on Friday night, full of anticipation about what the climax of the week would bring. Yes, we may well have predicted some of the major story beats (namely, Natasha being shot in a case of mistaken identity and Johnny coming to a sticky end whilst trying to rescue Jenny), but we were still left incredibly satisfied by the episodes on the whole, and majorly impressed by everything that went into the scenes underground - scripting, stunts, sets and all. We hope you enjoy listening to our discussion of the episodes!

Thursday Oct 21, 2021
It's Super Soap Week, and that can only mean one thing: total carnage on the cobbles as Horror Nation Street kicks off in spectacular style. This episode of the podcast comes at you a few days earlier than usual as we wouldn't have been able to record our normal episode over the weekend. Never mind, though, as there's been absolutely loads to talk about from just the first two days of the week anyway! Sinkholes opening up all over the place, the Alahans in a spectacular stunt en route to their camping holiday, and a crazed criminal on the loose, hell bent on revenge... We know this is a bit of a divisive week, but we're loving it, so if you'll forgive our unabashed gushing, we do hope you'll rather enjoy this episode!

Saturday Oct 16, 2021
On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 11th and the 15th October (Episodes #10452 - 10457).
Unless you've been living under some kind of spoiler-repellent rock these past few weeks (and if you are, can you tell us where we might find one?), you'll know that there's a pretty hyped up set of episodes coming very soon, and this week's Corrie certainly seemed like everything was lining up nicely for some action packed shows next week. It definitely feels like George and Todd could be busy at the undertaker's by next Friday night, but whether it's Corey having his brains blown out by Abi, Toyah being pummelled to death by Harvey, Natasha being pushed into the sinkhole by an old biddy who can't get her blue rinse done anymore or even lovely Johnny just ending up as some kind of collateral damage, we'll just have to wait and see, but in any case, this week's episodes did a pretty good job in getting us hyped! Just... please don't mention the identify of Imran's drunken one night stand to us... We're still feeling mighty hacked off by THAT revelation...
Up next on the podcast, we head over to The Kabin, where there's some good news for Catherine Tyldesley, bad news for Katie McGlynn, and intriguing news for us as the UK soaps announce a collaboration crossover event in a few weeks' time. We end the show with a few bits of listener feedback.

Imran Habeeb Character Profile
Tuesday Oct 12, 2021
Tuesday Oct 12, 2021
For this week's bonus podcast, we take an in depth look at the character of Imran Habeeb. He's been a bit of a fan favourite since his introduction back in 2017, and in this episode, we weigh up the evidence and give our verdict on the street's latest ladykiller lawyer. Is he a good match for Toyah? Would we want him defending us in court? Can we forgive his steadily growing list of indiscretions? All this and more are answered here!
