Friday Jan 06, 2023
On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 2nd and the 4th January 2023 (Episodes #10840 - 10845).
Well, Corrie sure knows how to start the year with a bang! Also, a splash. And a thwack. Yep, whether or not you enjoyed them, it can't be argued that this week's episodes weren't at least memorable, with the racists' attempted bombing of the Weatherfield peace festival taking centre stage. As Spider lays in hospital following a fateful (but funny) encounter with Griff in the ginnel, Alya saves the day in an act of... heroism? Stupidity? Sometimes those two can be so close... Also this week, one of Joseph's teachers makes the baffling decision to send him home after he uses sign language at break time, but if you thought that was unrealistic, just wait to find out what happens after Gemma marches up the school to complain.. Meanwhile, Roy gets to grips with his new phone, Esther and Mike's masks begin to slip, and Stephen takes advantage of Teddy's memory loss following his miraculous recovery.
In The Kabin, we chat about Iain Macleod's recent comments about whether or not the online Corrie box sets are here to stay, and we round off the show with more of your lovely feedback.

On our first podcast of 2023, we chat about goings on in Weatherfield during the run up to New Year, covering the episodes shown between the 28th and the 31st December (Episodes #10835 - 10839)
We may have been wrong about Griff plotting something big to coincide with the New Year's Eve celebrations, but it was full steam ahead in the Stephen story, where we almost saw Corrie's latest killer claim his second victim. Dodgy CGI eyeballs aside, the final shot of Saturday's episode certainly had us excited for what's to come in this story, though we can't help but feel that Stephen's going to be loitering shadily around the Street for a little while yet. Speaking of Corrie killers, has Todd uncovered an unsavoury secret from Laurence's past? Yeah, we doubt that one, somehow. Also this week, Summer reunites with Aaron, Roy's basically just asking for trouble by continuing to insist he doesn't need a phone, and Peter sets himself a new project for 2023.

On our latest podcast, we chat about what's been going on in Weatherfield over the Christmas weekend, covering the episodes shown between the 23rd and the 26th December (Episodes #10829 - 10834).
Corrie may have played it a bit safe this Christmas - there certainly weren't any major exits, shocking twists or, dare we say it, cars driving over cliffs into the sea in Weatherfield this year - but there was definitely some heartwarming stuff if you were in the mood for a bit of romance and yuletide magic. We've certainly not seen eye to eye on the podcast about this whole wedding for Fiz and Tyrone, but one thing we were certainly in agreement with was how pleased we were to see Evelyn back on the show for the ceremony - but exactly where has she been, we wonder..? And while we're on the subject of romance, wasn't Daniel and Daisy's engagement just lovely? Now if only Daniel would stop being an old fuddy-duddy, maybe they've got a chance of living happily ever after! Also this week, George has a little surprise when Eileen's sofa arrives, Stephen's lies catch up to him when Gail gets wind of his sneaky shenanigans, and Griff gears Max up for fireworks at New Year...
Up next on the podcast, it's time for The Kabin, where we take a look at how Corrie fared in the Christmas Day ratings, and we round things off with some festive feedback.

Christmas is nearly here, and along with it comes our somewhat erratic recording schedule, so this week's podcast just covers the episodes of Corrie shown between the 19th and the 21st December (Episodes #10825 - 10828).
After making his mysterious debut during last Friday's trip to Weatherfield, Jacob's father Damon is fully revealed this week, and with him comes a surprising revelation about Jacob's relationship with Harvey! And that's not the only twist Corrie had in store for us either, as Griff's secret benefactor was revealed on Monday's episode too - and yep, it's definitely someone we know! Speaking of bombshells, Max's racist camping trip goes a bit awry on Wednesday when a shady looking device in the boot of Griff's car detonates, leading Spider to finally reveal his secret identity to Toyah. Also this week, Daisy nervously awaits her test results, Fiz nearly inadvertently derails Tyrone's secret wedding plans, and George buys Eileen a new sofa for Christmas - though we suspect there may be a tiny problem with the gift when it arrives on Christmas Eve...
Not a whole lot of Corrie news to discuss this week, so we skip The Kabin and round off the podcast with more of your feedback.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 12th and the 16th December (Episodes #10819 - 10824).
We may have been pretty vocal about our dislike of the Summer storyline in recent weeks, but credit where credit's due, we actually found it to be the most exciting it's ever been this week thanks to the double whammy of Billy finding out about Summer's baby selling plans and Mike's switching from creepily obsessed to downright sinister after discovering about the miscarriage. Also strong this week were the more serious scenes given to the usually comedic Daisy - we're not predicting this will develop into another full-blown cancer story, so we were able to sit back and appreciate the cracking performances from Charlotte Jordan and Rob Mallard as Daniel realises that history may be repeating itself in the worst way possible for him... Also this week, it's curtain-up for Ken's play, secret wedding preparations for Tyrone and a new job for Simon - as viewers everywhere ask, "So what had he been doing before, again..?"
Up next on the podcast it's The Kabin, where we finally get around to giving our impressions on the recently revealed Weatherfield Precinct set - and we're pretty impressed! We finish the show with more of your feedback, including one listener who thinks it would be better if Corrie did away with hard hitting, issue-led stories altogether - what do we think?

On our latest episode of the podcast, we have a good old natter about what went on in Weatherfield between the 7th and the 9th December (Episodes #10813 - 10818).
This week's Corrie saw Maria and Alya take on Griff, who's left with a bit of a bruised ego and a bloodied nose to match. With Griff now threatening to knock his campaign against the Muslim community of Weatherfield up a notch, has the time finally come for Spider to take action against him? Meanwhile, Elaine is falling hook, line and sinker for Stephen's charms and he looks set to get his hands on a big wad of her cash - but will he ending up taking her life as well as her money? Also this week, Hope holds a séance to try and get in touch with John, Eileen gets about as fed up as us with Steve and Tim's jacket bickering, and Summer continues to make bad decision after bad decision about her deal with Esther and Mike. Oxford reeeeally didn't miss out on much there, did they?
Up next on the podcast, it's time for The Kabin! Of course, there was a massive news blowout recently when the Weatherfield Precinct was finally unveiled, but sadly due to time constraints, we've had to shelve that one until next week. Still, there's plenty of other stuff to talk about, including another well earned award for Paddy Bever and a look at Corrie's festive schedules. We finish off the show with more of your listener feedback, including some fascinating insight into the character of Janet Barlow following our recent podcast on Ken's romantic history.

For someone who's often thought of being a bit of a fuddy duddy, Ken Barlow has actually managed to attract the attentions of a remarkable number of women during his time on the Street! In this week's podcast, we take a look at all the ladies who've turned Ken's head and taken him to bed, from the more obvious ones such as Deirdre and first wife Val to some quite surprising characters including a certain red haired newsagent..! For part of the episode, we're also joined by Elle Mulvaney, who currently plays the youngest member of the Barlow clan, to find out how much she knows about Amy's randy granddad's romantic history in a game of 'Snogged, Married or Avoided?'

On our latest podcast, we chat about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 28th and the 30th November (Episodes #10807 - 10812).
Not the best week for us this week, unfortunately - it did feel somewhat like the storylines were either filler or spinning their wheels, and we're not just talking about Stephen's motorbike after that crash on Wednesday's episode! Of course, we did get a nice bit of development in the Summer story, as the eternally unfortunate young lady finds herself in a bit of a predicament once more after suffering a miscarriage. Will she tell Esther and Mike or just continue to accept their cash in the hope that they might forget what they're actually paying her for? Also this week, Steve returns from Spain, Ken looks set to enter a bit of a love triangle, and Laurence returns with some unfinished business between him and Sean...
Up next on the podcast it's The Kabin, where we celebrate Corrie's recent wins in the RTS North West Awards and find out what some of the cast got up to when they were invited to meet the speaker of the House of Commons! We finish off the show with some more of your lovely feedback.
