Conversation Street Episode 301

This week's podcast starts with a short tribute to long-time listener Tvor, who passed away a few days ago. She was the first person to give us feedback on the podcast, way back in Episode 4, and her presence will be greatly missed on the show and across the Coronation Street fan community as a whole. We then move onto discussing the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 26th and the 30th March. As the police uncover concrete evidence of Pat's murderous ways, the barbaric builder does a runner to North Lighthouse (just Voggle it - it'll take you right there!), intent on sailing across to Ireland. Will he be able to convince Eileen to go with him, or will she finally see him for the murderer he really is? Meanwhile, Martin makes a flying visit to the Street, Audrey switches from styling hair to freestyling on air, and, in what we can only assume is an attempt to curry favour with his Mafia boss grandfather, Simon turns to a life of crime. After Street Talk, we welcome Brooke Vincent back onto the podcast for a quick chat about all things Dancing On Ice, Kana and Chapter 1: Liv, her new short film that's recently been put online (if you haven't seen it yet, we definitely recommend checking it out!). Next up, we move onto a quick news section, including more evidence that tours of the Corrie set are looking more and more likely, and then head into our usual feedback section. Finally, in a quick, spoilery Kabin Extra at the end of the show, we discusss the news of another cast member departure, announced this week.

Conversation Street Episode 300

And here it is! This week, we reach another milestone in Conversation Street history as we pass the 300 episode mark and discuss everything Corrie between the 19th and the 22nd March. Sadly, we weren't especially enamoured by the week's offerings from the cobbles, be it Fiz's unwillingness to dob her daughter in to Tyrone, the continuing saga of Eva's hidden pregnancy, or the mind-numbing monotomy of Michelle's wedding plans, but hey - at least Jack P Shepherd pulled it out of the bag with a fantastic portrayal of David's realisation of what had happened to him last Friday night. Things take a massive turn for the better after Street Talk, though, as we're joined by the lovely Nicola Thorp for a chat about her year on the Street playing Phelan's long-lost daughter. That's followed by more great news for Corrie in The Kabin as - at last! - they win a Best Soap award this week, then we round off the episode with some listener feedback, including a special voicemail about the Victoria Street set expansion.

In the last podcast of the 200s, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street between the 12th and the 16th March. A couple of massive talking points in this week's show, starting off, of course, in Street Talk with David's rape. Is it Corrie's duty to inform viewers about this issue that's often considered taboo, was it too much to put on TV before the watershed, and is it just another attempt at ratings grabbing? Of course, the story's only just begun, but in any case, we do our best to look at both sides of the argument, and ponder where things could go next. After more discussion of Tyrone and Gemma's night together and our early reactions to clairvoyant Rosie, we move onto the second big discussion of the week: the new Victoria Street set! We take a look at every nook and cranny of the recently revealed expansion, give our reactions, and wonder how each part might be used on screen. That's followed by a few smaller bits of news, including a report on how Brooke Vincent got on in the Dancing On Ice final. We round off the episode with some feedback, including an email from a new listener and a voicemail.

On our latest podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 5th and the 9th March. An interesting week this week, for sure. Although there were big plot developments in some of of the stories - Pat gets stuck in cement, Eileen finds out about the Calcutta Street scam, Tyrone cheats on Fiz - quite a bit of it made one or both of us feel rather angry, so strap yourselves in and prepare for some epic Gemma rants! There was even some disagreement between the pair of us over Phelan's confession, so things really did get quite heated! At least one thing we did agree on was that Moira's performance at the party was just brilliant - who says comedy on Corrie is dead? Just to lighten the mood after a grumpy Street Talk, we then delve into an irreverant discussion of illegal drug taking on Corrie. From the evil dealers like Callum and Jez to the unintentional comedy of Izzy on cannabis, our narcotic-based natterings will give you a thorough history of one of Corrie's darker terriories. There's good news for Brooke Vincent fans in the Kabin as our Weatherfield representative makes it to the Dancing On Ice final, and we round things off with some listener feedback.

Things get off to a great start on this week's podcast, as for the first five minutes, we're joined by a special guest who picks the five winners of our Mother's Day On Coronation Street competition! That's followed by a discussion of all things Corrie between the 19th and the 23rd February, which, thankfully, we were feeling a lot more positive about compared to last week! From Aidan and Carla's kidney transplant to Nicola's ruptured appendix, there were a few times where we actually felt concerned for a character's safety, but it was the quiet, character-driven two-hander moments that really shone out for us: if we could have a few more scenes like Roy and Johnny on a bench or Jenny and Kevin sharing a beer, we'd be very happy podcasters. After Street Talk, we tackle a couple of listener questions: What's the worst thing that Tracy has ever done and which Corrie characters would you most like to have as your parents? That's followed by some sad yet heartwarming news in The Kabin, and a bit more Tracy chat from listeners in the feedback section.

On our latest podcast, we discuss the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast between the 12th and the 16th February in the UK. Perhaps we didn't get the memo about it being Valentine's Day this week, because we certainly weren't feeling the love for this particular batch of episodes. Whether it's the the revival of Michelle's best left forgotton baby swap storyline, Toyah's continuing attempts to hide Eva's pregnancy or the many scenes of Craig's obsessive habits - yes, we get it; he has OCD! - we found that, sadly, there wasn't much to love his this week.. but if you're a fan of Gemma rants, you're in for a treat! Fortunately, things take a turn for the better in the second half of the podcast, starting with a fab interview with Kate White, a writer at Inside Soap, who gives us the scoop about what it's like to work for the UK's biggest soap magazine. That's followed by The Kabin, where we take a look at the Corrie fashion at last weekend's Archie's Footprint Ball, and launch a competition where you can win one of five copies of Maggie Sullivan's latest book, Mother's Day On Coronation Street. We round things off by hearing about some of our listeners' Corrie dreams in the feedback section.

Our top discussion point in Street Talk this week is Zeedan's contract with the Habeebs - it's a shady deal for sure, but is it about honour-based abuse as much as some people are making out? Also this week, there's a surprising match for Carla's kidney (well, surprising for us at least, as we didn't think it'd be this simple!) and Pat puts the frighteners on Steph. Next up, we do a classic character profile on Concepta Regan (warning - contains terrible and probably insensitive attempts at Irish accents!) then find out about a couple of new book releases that may be of interest to Corrie viewers in The Kabin. We round things off with some musical musings from Morgan in the feedback sections.

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about Coronation Street between the 29th January and the 2nd February. A great bunch of episodes this week, we thought - topped off, of course, by the return of the lovely Steph to the cobbles, who's back in town for her brother's funeral. Elsewhere, Gina turns her hand to being a mechanic (loved EVERYTHING about these scenes!), Daniel shares one of his organs with Carla (and we're not talking kidneys here), and the truth comes out about Rana and Kate. Earlier this week, we had the huge honour of being one of the few people to see the final cut of Chapter 1: Liv, the new short film starring Brooke Vincent, Sally Ann Matthews and Adam Blease, so after Street Talk, we give it our spoiler-free impressions, followed by a discussion of the possible implications of Corrie's new sponsorship deal with Costa and Co-op. On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 22nd and 26th January. To kick things off, we cover the outcome and aftermath of Anna's trial on Monday - though the guilty verdict was neither deserved nor unexpected, it's fair to say that we weren't exactly sad to see her banged up at the end of the episode; in fact, it was the musical montage sequence that really got our hackles up the most! Also this week, Sarah, Gail and Audrey have a nice family day out to the local lapdancing club, and there's terrible news for Toyah.. but is that an opportunity presenting itself in the form of Eva's unwanted sprog? After Street Talk, we do a character profile revisit on Anna. It was quite funny to hear some of the things we said about her last time we profiled her in Episode 30, and it's fair to say there's been a bit of a change of opinion since then! Next up, we celebrate Lucy Fallon's win and cast an eye over the red carpet fashion a the National Television Awards, then there's a voicemail and a few other emails to round off the show in the feedback section.
