Re-upload: Dirk Character Profile

For April Fools' Day 2017, we flexed our creative muscles to come up with a profile of one of Corrie's most well-loved background characters: factory foreman Dirk. Over the course of three quarters of an hour, we led listeners down a merry path, recounting a completely fabricated tale of Dirk's life on the Street, stretching all the way from 1960 to the present day. We've re-uploaded it to our feed because, well, we all need something silly to lose ourselves in at the moment, so hit the play button, kick back and enjoy!

Listener Questions - Episode 411

For our bonus content this week, we tackle some questions sent in by a pair of listeners. First up, we're tasked with giving the Street a bit of a makeover, closing all the businesses and opening new ones in their place. What kind of business do the residents of Weatherfield need, who would run them, and would they be interesting to watch? We go in depth with our thoughts! Next up, we're asked which characters we'd want to be friends with in real life. As neither of us are exactly social butterflies (well, we have spent Friday night for the past eight years recording a podcast!!), this wasn't necessarily the easiest of questions, but we certainly gave it a good shot!

Archie Shuttleworth Character Profile - Episode 410

This week, we learned the sad news of beloved entertainer Roy Hudd's death, so in tribute, our bonus material for Episode 410 is a character profile of Archie Shuttleworth, Corrie's merry mortician. Despite only being a prominent feature of Corrie for a year or so in the early 2000s, Archie's big personality and even bigger heart made him a real favourite for many viewers - and his role in uncovering the truth about dastardly Richard Hillman didn't hurt either! Archie Shuttleworth, a true Corrie legend - we're not wrong!

Conversation Street Episode 410

On our latest podcast, we have a natter about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 16th and the 20th March (Episodes #10,032 - 10,037). Another fab week on the cobbles, we thought, helped in no small part a the focus on some of the older members of the cast. Yasmeen's torment at the hands of evil Geoff continued to keep us hooked, whilst the prospect of a blossoming romance for Evelyn provided a nice bit of character development for the usually very guarded granny. And as for the bonkers goings on at Stillwaters, from Claudia in full-on fencing gear to Norris' fear that Freda has been indoctrinated into some sort of cult.. just wonderful! We round off the podcast with a bit of listener feedback, including a voicemail from across the pond and a big thank you to a listener who's sent us a fascinating look at what a 1990 issue of Woman magazine thought Corrie would look like in 2020...

Conversation Street Episode 409

In this special one-off episode, we chat about the potential consequences that the coronavirus pandemic may have on Coronation Street. We really did want to avoid bringing up the subject, but with this week's news that Corrie is to move to three episodes a week and rumblings of kissing scene bans and isolation of cast members, it seems like it's become something we had to address. Hopefully, for those of you who are sick of hearing about COVID-19, you can just not listen to this episode and be safe in the knowledge that we'll do our best to keep future podcasts coronavirus-free wherever possible. If you do want to hear our thoughts on how we think the production, stories and broadcasts could be affected, though - and whether we think Corrie should even touch on the pandemic at all in its scripts - then you've come to the right place!

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 9th and the 13th March (Episodes #10,026 to 10,031). It was a really satisfying set of episodes this week, we thought, with plenty of lovely character moments that hit just the right notes - Ken's emotional goodbye to Eccles and Number 1, Roy standing up for Nina and her gradual opening up to him, Yasmeen's turmoil as she's torn between her granddaughter and her husband... all top stuff! And for the action fans among us, we had a pretty epic scrap between Ali and Gary too. Next up on the podcast, it's time for The Kabin, where we delve into the planning documents for the proposed Coronation Street Experience, an extension to the current tour that looks very exciting indeed. We finish off the show with more listener feedback.

Conversation Street Episode 407: Ryan Prescott Interview

This week saw the online release of Chapter 2: Zach, the sci-fi short from Dom Stephenson and starring a number of Corrie actors including Ryan Prescott, who speaks to the podcast this week in an exclusive interview. As well as telling us how he got involved in the project and what it was like to film, there's plenty of Corrie chat too as Ryan reflects on his two years playing Ryan Connor.
