Conversation Street Awards 2020 Nominations - Episode 449
Saturday Dec 19, 2020
Saturday Dec 19, 2020
The end of 2020 is nearly here, which means the return of the Conversation Street Awards! The past twelve months have seen their fair share of heroes and villains on the cobbles, but which characters and storylines are most deserving of praise?
With COVID-19 impacting the number of episodes produced, the way filming is done and the sort of scenes that can be shot, it's not necessarily been as easy as usual to come up with nominations for all the awards (thank goodness at least some characters got into fights in the first half of the year!), but we still think there are some tough choices to be made in most of the categories!
Results will be revealed in our annual awards show around New Year, but first, have a listen to us discussing the nominees then pick your winners! The listener poll count for two thirds of the overall vote, and Gemma and Michael will get the rest, so make sure you cast your vote!

Saturday Dec 12, 2020
On our special 60th anniversary edition of the podcast, we chat about the goings on on the cobbles between the 7th and the 11th December (Episodes #10187 - 10192)
The diggers are revving their engines this week as Ray orders the demolition of the brewery, but when a plucky Abi commandeers one of the machines and plunges the street into blackness, the stage is set for one of Corrie's darkest weeks in a good while. From Imran's impassioned speech in court to the rooftop drama with Geoff and the surprise twist at the end of Friday's episode that will no doubt keep everyone guessing until the end of the year and beyond, there's a lot of ground to cover in this week's Street Talk, but the big question is, did it live up to all the hype?
In The Kabin, we share our thoughts on some of Corrie's special programmes that have been put out to mark the anniversary both on and offline, including Monday's 60 Unforgettable Years documentary and of course, the very welcome return of Corrie Good News.
Finally, we round off the show with a selection of listener comments about how the anniversary week went down.

Sally Dynevor Interview - Episode 448
Saturday Dec 12, 2020
Saturday Dec 12, 2020
For our bonus podcast this week, we're thrilled to be joined by Street legend Sally Dynevor, who talks to us about her highlights from her 35 years on the show playing Sally. We find out what it was like to work alongside Jean Alexander in those early years, learn what she really thinks about playing such a snobbish character, and pick her brains about what it is that she thinks has kept the ex-mayor of Weatherfield so fresh for all these years. What a treat for Corrie's 60th anniversary week!

Saturday Dec 05, 2020
On our latest podcast, we have a good old chat about what went on in Corrie between the 30th November and the 4th December (Episodes #10175 - 10180).
It's the week of Yasmeen's trial, and with Geoff doing whatever he can to derail the case, Imran's got his work cut out if he wants her to stand a chance of being released in time for the 60th anniversary celebrations next week.. Meanwhile, Abi dons her superhero costume once again after discovering Ray's plans to knock down half the street, but has she left it too late to stop him - and as viewers, have we been given enough reason to care either way? Also this week, Peter grows suspicious of Carla, Daisy does her best to come between Jenny and Johnny, and Oliver says his final goodbyes to Weatherfield in the back of a red taxi.
The Corrie news is coming thick and fast at the moment, and The Kabin sees us discussing a variety of topics including the upcoming mobile game, William Roache's fabulous new portrait, and this week's parliamentary debate on our favourite soap. We round things off with a couple of bits of feedback.

Feature Discussion: 1985-1989 - Episode 447
Saturday Dec 05, 2020
Saturday Dec 05, 2020
For this week's bonus podcast, we share our thoughts on Corrie between 1985 and 1989 as we finally reach the halfway point in the show's history so far. This was the period we said hello to the likes of Jenny and Sally, and bid a sad farewell to Hilda. It was all change at the Rovers with a new landlady and a new look following the 1986 fire, and with big stories including Brian's stabbing and Alan Bradley's reign of terror, there's certainly no lack of material for us to chat about!

Saturday Nov 28, 2020
Saturday Nov 28, 2020
On our latest podcast, we dissect the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 23rd and the 27th November (Episodes #10169 - 10174).
Leanne may not have been willing to admit it, but the inevitable events of Friday's heart-breaking episodes have been on the cards for quite some time now, but that certainly didn't make them any less enjoyable to watch - indeed, the sad scenes where Steve and Leanne said their final goodbyes to their son were among the actors' very best, and, supported by spectacular performances from the rest of the cast, made for a truly powerful end to the week. Also this week, it looks like it could be the end of the road for Johnny and Jenny (Nooo!), villainous Ray and Geoff strike a deal (Boo!) and things are still tough between Peter and Carla (Meh..)
In the Kabin, we celebrate Corrie's wins at the Inside Soap Awards and cast a critical eye on the newly unveiled pieces of artwork to mark the 60th anniversary, then we round off the podcast with more of your listener feedback.

Listener Questions - Episode 446
Saturday Nov 28, 2020
Saturday Nov 28, 2020
This week's bonus podcast sees the return of the listener questions segment, where we share our thoughts about two more topics. Firstly, Jon wants to know which character the producers made the biggest mistake in writing out or killing off. From Martha Longhurst's controversial demise in the Rovers snug to some of the more recent swings of the producer's axe, we ponder which decisions might not have been for the best. After that, we chat about an idea sent in by Rebecca, who wants to know what we would do if we were in charge of producing a special feature length Corrie film for the 60th anniversary. Standalone episode, documentary or something else entirely, we muse over a whole variety of options before deciding on our favourite. Now if someone could just lend us $100k, we'll get right on it..!

Conversation Street Episode 445

Saturday Nov 21, 2020
On our latest podcast, we share our thoughts on the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 16th and the 20th November (Episodes #10,169 - 10,174).
With the Oliver storyline only getting the occasional scene in these episodes, the focus was put squarely on the tried and tested soap trope of a love triangle this week, its members being Carla, Peter and Adam. Did it bring anything new to the table, or was it just as predictable as Peter's inevitable succumbence to the sauce? Meanwhile, Craig's in a bind when he discovers Ray's dastardly plans to bring a touch of gentrification to Weatherfield, and Billy's mad at Paul when he catches him deacon around in his new robes.
Corrie's 60th anniversary promo has kicked off in earnest this week, and in The Kabin, we've got a new official cast photo, a new trailer and yes, even a new Co-op bag to share our thoughts on. We round the show off with the feedback section, where the hot topic of the week is how our listeners first got into Corrie.

Violet Wilson Character Profile - Episode 445
Saturday Nov 21, 2020
Saturday Nov 21, 2020
For our bonus podcast this week, we take a look at the character of Violet Wilson, whose name's been brought up on the show more than once in recent weeks thanks to her and Sean's son Dylan making a return to the street. We take a look at what she got up to during her time on Corrie, including her involvement in Charlie and Shelley's domestic abuse story and her relationship with Jamie Baldwin, and we uncover a few interesting titbits about the original plans for the character, which would have taken her down a very different route to the one she ended up on!

Saturday Nov 14, 2020
On the podcast this week, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 9th and the 13th November (Episodes #10163 - 10168).
If you've been as invested in the Oliver story as we have for the past few months, there'll have been a lot for you to love this week. Despite the fact we all knew the judge's verdict was only ever going to go one way, watching the reactions of the characters involved was no less compelling than any surprise twist would have been; indeed, seeing Leanne unable to accept the crushing inevitability of it all made some smashing TV, and we're sure many a tear was shed up and down the country on Friday night! And while the end seems close for Oliver, life goes on for the other residents of the street this week, including a new opportunity for Sean and Michael, a new romance in the factory between Adam and Alina, and a new archdeacon of Weatherfield (and his semi-nude boyfriend).
In the Kabin segment of the podcast, we peruse the catalogue of Julie Goodyear's jewellery that is soon to be going under the hammer for charity, and we round off the podcast with talk of iTunes reviews, COVID on Corrie and how people first started watching the show in the feedback section.
