Conversation Street Episode 526

In our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 6th and the 10th June (Episodes #10657- 10662).

Whenever Corrie has a massive week like it did last week, it can be difficult to keep up the momentum in the following set of episodes. Fortunately, we were still gripped this week, with the mystery surrounding the exact circumstances of the crash continuing to keep us guessing. One thing's for sure, though: with all these characters suspecting Toyah purposefully slammed into that wall, and Monday's CCTV footage not particularly revealing anything new, there's definitely no way Toyah's guilty here - that's soap law. Also this week, Summer's attempt to cheat in her English exam backfires for both her and Aadi, Sean's new squeeze brings back some difficult memories for George, and Leo's new hobby causes a massive home brew-ha-ha at the Rovers.

Up next on the podcast, we find out who's been nominated in this year's TV Choice Awards in the Kabin before hearing from some of our lovely listeners in the feedback section, including a review of a special Corrie coach trip last Sunday.

Charlie De Melo Final Interview

After four and a half years of playing Imran Habeeb, Charlie De Melo bowed out of Coronation Street in June 2022, his character succumbing to internal injuries sustained in a car crash. In his final interview with Conversation Street, Charlie talks with us about the reasons behind his departure, what it was like to film those action packed final scenes and the memories he will take away from being at the heart of the nation's favourite Street for nearly half a decade.

In our latest podcast, we share our thoughts on the dramatic events of Britain's Got Talent week 2022, which aired in the UK between the 30th May and the 3rd June (Episodes #10652 - 10656).

This week saw the long-running battle between Alfie's parents come to a head in dramatic fashion as Imran discovers that Abi is planning to flee the country with their son. Then, after stopping Toyah from reporting Abi to the police, the new Mr and Mrs Habeeb are involved in a car crash that ultimately proves fatal for Imran - but what was it that caused the accident in the first place... and was it even an 'accident' at all? Seeing three of our favourite characters battling it out over the past few months has certainly not been easy at times, but it was nothing compared to losing the lovely Imran this week. What did we think of the method in which he was dispatched, and what could the circumstances around the crash mean for our Toyah? Lack of crumbs in the Vegemite aside, things really aren't looking good for her...

After a lengthy discussion about the week's episodes (interspersed in true flashbacky style with some predictions for the week we recorded after Monday's episode), we head over to The Kabin, where there's some great news from the palace for Helen Worth and Antony Cotton. We then round the podcast off with some of your listener feedback about this week and last.

Corrie’s Jubilee Jubilations

With the Platinum Jubilee festivities in full swing this week, we're all feeling in a bit of a celebratory mood here in the UK. To mark the occasion, we thought we'd take a look back at the past times when the residents of Coronation Street have put up the bunting and celebrated the Queen's Jubilee. From parades and street parties to even a Civil War reenactment, the Jubilee has always been an excuse to do something a bit special in Weatherfield, and the episodes are well worth watching if you can track them down. Also this podcast, we pose the question, "Who are Corrie's royal family?" and try to decide which clan stands above all others to be crowned the show's royal representatives.

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 23rd and the 27th May 2022 (Episodes #10646 - 10651).

Phill's always seemed a bit too good to be true, and this week, he finally slipped up by leaving Hope with his computer to discover he's been working on a tell-all exposé on John Stape! Not necessarily the dastardliest of crimes, we grant you, but enough for Fiz to kick him to the kerb anyway.. well, at least for all of five minutes. Also in this week's NHS endorsed set of episodes, Tim, Summer and Faye all learn that when it comes to some things, you really should just listen to your doctor. Meanwhile, as Abi finally gets her hands on a fake passport for her and Alfie, the stage is set for for a dramatic kidnapping attempt next week, but will Kevin or Debbie make her see sense before it's too late?

In the Kabin segment, we check out who from Corrie has been nominated for an NTA this year in the Best Serial Drama Performance category, and we round off the show with more of your listener feedback.

Listener Questions

For this week's bonus podcast, we tackle two more listener questions. Firstly, with the news that some of Neighbours' biggest names will be returning to the show as it reaches its final episode later this Summer, we discuss who should be brought back for one last goodbye if Corrie were to ever be cancelled. Next up, we were asked who would end up dead and who'd have blood on their hands if Mary were to host a Cludeo-style murder mystery party for all the adults on Coronation Street. Killing methods were also required for each one too, of course!

On our latest podcast, we have a natter about what went on in Weatherfield between the 16th and the 20th May 2022 (Episodes #10640 - 10645).

When we started the podcast back in 2012, we certainly never thought we'd be using the words 'penis' or 'erectile dysfunction' quite so freely as we did in this episode, but with Tim's todger being front and centre this week, as it were, we really had no option. There've been mixed opinions online about some of the sexy shenanigans that went on in Wednesday's episode, but we must admit that it did make us giggle a fair amount! Also this week, Abi's sneaky plan to whisk Alfie away from Toyah and Imran gets underway as she tries to procure a fake passport for her son, Fiz is mortified when she discovers she's dining out with one of the prosecutors who sent her to jail, and Daniel 'Woe Is Me' Osbourne sabotages his own job interview when he realises that pushing a student down the stairs probably means he isn't exactly cut out for working with children...

Gary and Judy Mallett Character Profile

This week's bonus podcast is a character profile double feature on Gary and Judy Mallett. As they were pretty much joined at the hip whilst on the programme (and we're not just talking about all that time they were trying for a baby..!), we figured it'd be silly to give them separate profiles each. With Gary having just left the Street on Classic Corrie on ITV3, he's going to be quite fresh in a lot of your minds, so we thought it'd be a good time to take a look back at the family's five years in the show.

Last week's relatively enjoyable Aggie story sees a change in protagonist this week, as Peter finds out the extent of Mr Thorne's unprofessionalism regarding his liver transplant and vows to make him pay. Meanwhile, after Abi overhears Ben arranging a shady deal on the phone, she takes the opportunity to make him confess to lying in court - are Imran's days as a solicitor numbered? Also this week, Tyrone (along with the rest of us!) get jealous of Fiz's new house, Kirk finds the pressure of life on the sales team too much to handle and Aaron scarpers when Summer overshares about her body image hang-ups.

Up next on the show, we celebrate the news that Corrie got a BAFTA - but why was it consigned to a tiny clip on the TV broadcast of the event? That's followed by some opposing views about Abi vs Toyah  in the feedback section, and we end the podcast with yet another spoilery discussion about this week's cast news in Kabin Extra.
