On our latest podcast, we chat about what went down in Weatherfield between the 9th and the 13th May 2022 (Episodes #10634 - 10639).

Last week's relatively enjoyable Aggie story sees a change in protagonist this week, as Peter finds out the extent of Mr Thorne's unprofessionalism regarding his liver transplant and vows to make him pay. Meanwhile, after Abi overhears Ben arranging a shady deal on the phone, she takes the opportunity to make him confess to lying in court - are Imran's days as a solicitor numbered? Also this week, Tyrone (along with the rest of us!) get jealous of Fiz's new house, Kirk finds the pressure of life on the sales team too much to handle and Aaron scarpers when Summer overshares about her body image hang-ups.

Up next on the show, we celebrate the news that Corrie got a BAFTA - but why was it consigned to a tiny clip on the TV broadcast of the event? That's followed by some opposing views about Abi vs Toyah  in the feedback section, and we end the podcast with yet another spoilery discussion about this week's cast news in Kabin Extra.

The Weddings of Weatherfield Part 2

In this second part of our discussion about Corrie's best weddings, we reminisce over some of the most memorable ceremonies we've seen on the show over the years. From the romantic nuptials of Elsie and Steve Tanner to the outrageous antics of Les and Cilla, Coronation Street viewers have been treated to all sorts of ceremonies over the years - and not all of them have gone quite to plan either! So take a trip down memory lane as we chat about our favourite Weatherfield weddings!

On our latest podcast, we have a jolly good old chinwag about what went on on the cobbles between the 2nd and the 6th May 2022 (Episodes #10628 - 10633).

Our monkey's paw wish really did come true this week, as podcast favourites Toyah and Imran get spliced. As the week ended and baby Alfie came home to live with them, it seems like everything's going great for Mr and Mrs Battersbeeb (we refuse to call them anything else!), but with Toyah still blissfully ignorant of the lengths Imran went to in order to secure custody of his son, it's only a matter of time before things hit the fan big time... Also this week, Aggie has a bit of a thorny situation to contend with at her new job, Stu gets into a spot of bother when out getting supplies for Yasmeen's Eid stall, and Kirk and George compete for who can make the loudest, most irritating noise on the street!

In the Kabin, we ponder what the new pricing options for the Corrie set tour could mean for the upcoming expansion of the experience, and after reading out some listeners' thoughts on the brilliantly prickly Mr Thorne, we finish off the podcast with a discussion of some spoilery cast news that came out a few days ago in Kabin Extra.

The Weddings of Weatherfield Part 1

As another happy couple tie the knot on Corrie this week, we thought it was about time we dedicated an entire episode to chatting about the weddings of Weatherfield past. That turned out to be quite a big job, though, so we've ended up splitting the topic over two weeks! In this part, we take a look at some wedding related stats for Weatherfield, and comparing them to some numbers we've found for the real world. Which characters have been up the aisle the greatest number of times? Which months are most popular for Corrie characters to get spliced - and when's most common for weddings to get called off partway through? What have been the most commonly used venues for weddings in recent years, and how far back do we have to go to find one that actually took place in a church and went without a hitch, so to speak? We take a look at all this and more, so get your biggest hat on, pour yourself a glass of bubbly, and enjoy the first part of our discussion on the weddings of Weatherfield!

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 25th and the 29th April (Episodes #10622-10627).

All in all, it was a pretty good Corrie week, we thought, with a good mix of drama, comedy that was actually funny, soppy romantic scenes and characters having a good old gossip about someone else. As Daniel spectacularly fails to apologise for accusing Daisy of revealing Nicky's secret past this week, the guilt of being a nasty little scrote is starting to really weigh on Max - though we reckon there were still a lot of viewers wincing as he got himself a very nasty injury on Friday's episode! Also this week, George's big secret is revealed, Toyah gets tiddly at her hen do, and Jacob continues to prove what an asset he is to the show - and not just by making Simon look like a complete plank either!

Up next on the podcast, it's time for the news, and we ponder over whether it's a good idea for Corrie to have a new product placement on the show - this time, Heineken 0.0!  After a bit of feedback from our lovely listeners, we delve into a Kabin Extra section, where we share our first reactions to a bit of spoilery cast news that broke a few hours before recording the podcast - and it's certainly something we've got strong feelings about!

Doreen Lostock Character Profile

For this week's bonus podcast, we take a look at the character of Doreen Lostock, one of the original 'barm cake girls' from 1961, and who, along with Sheila Birtles, helped inject a shot of youthful energy into early original Corrie cast. Whether she was out chasing boys, dancing the twist with the volume up in the Corner Shop flat or getting into scrapes with a young Emily Nugent at Gamma Garments, Doreen was never short on energy, which is why, though only lasting on the show for a few years, she's fondly remembered by so many viewers of Corrie's early episodes.

This week, Nicky's career in education is over almost before it begins thanks to Max spreading pictures of her from her time as a cardigan wearer for hire around the school. Meanwhile, Ed makes an interesting discovery under Rick's floorboards, Imran struggles to resist the urge to play dirty when trying to unearth evidence that Abi's back on drugs, and Summer's diabulimia nearly causes her to loses her life - and, even more importantly, her place at Oxford!

Emma Brooker Character Profile

This week's bonus podcast is a character profile of Emma Brooker, who sadly jetted out of Weatherfield for pastures new on the other side of the world earlier this month. Thanks to her bubbly personality, sweet naivety and unwitting comic timing, Emma soon became a firm favourite of many a Corrie viewer, but did she end up getting a bit too much tragedy thrown at her towards the end of her time on the show? We discuss all this and more, including our favourite Emma moments, the inevitable Raquel comparisons and the unusual story behind how she became an extra branch on the McDonald family tree.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 11th and the 15th April (Episodes #10610 to 10615).

Pick a side, everyone, because the battle for custody of Alfie is properly underway this week, and it ain't looking pretty. With unexpected alliances to underhand tactics aplenty, we're not sure anyone's going to come out of this one looking good, but we're certainly enjoying the ride - as difficult as it might be for us to see three of our favourites at each other's throats! Also this week, Kelly struggles to come to terms with her parents' deaths, Billy and Amy grow increasingly concerned over Summer's relentless revision, and school dogsbody Daniel finds himself roped into organising yet another event that really shouldn't be anything to do with him - needs must when the staff lists seems to consist solely of a deputy head, an English teacher and newly hired TA, eh?

In The Kabin, we celebrate the return of the British Soap Awards but have some concerns over some of the new categories, and we round off the show with more of your lovely feedback.

Kel Allen Interview

This week, we chatted to the actress who played Laura, Kel Allen, about her two years on the show, including last year's courtroom drama, playing opposite Millie Gibson and Mikey North and, of course, those harrowing scenes last week when Our Kelly got to the hospital just too late to say goodbye to her mum...
