Conversation Street Episode #533
Saturday Jul 30, 2022
Saturday Jul 30, 2022
On our latest podcast, we chat about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 25th and the 29th July (Episodes #10699 - 10704).
We don't know whether it's the hot weather (though we suspect not as that seems to have passed Weatherfield by this summer!), but everyone seemed to be losing their rag on Corrie this week. Whether it's Kevin stressing out over building a cot, Stephen getting unreasonably irate about his supposedly fixed car breaking down, Beth getting narked off about Summer's new PA job or Leanne reverting to her grumpy ways when she hears that Debbie's planned a psychic night at the Bistro, these guys could seriously do with taking a chill pill this week. And speaking of pills, we've still not got to the bottom of whether or not Audrey's overdose last Friday was done on purpose either...
Next up on the podcast, in the Kabin, we're joined by the brains behind the excellent Coronation Street Blog, Glenda Young, who tells us about her own soap Riverside, which has recently been released online as an audio drama. There are also a few bits of news related to the Corrie Tour for us to mull over, too. We end the podcast, as always, with more of your listener feedback.

Sophie Dainty Interview
Thursday Jul 28, 2022
Thursday Jul 28, 2022
We don't know about you guys, but Digital Spy has always been a website we've liked to visit for the latest entertainment news, and so this week on the podcast, we were excited to be able to talk to Sophie Dainty, the Deputy Soaps Editor there. Sophie chats about how she got involved in the website, what she thinks about spoiler culture in soaps and shares some of her personal favourite Corrie characters and stories from over the years.

Sunday Jul 24, 2022
On our latest podcast, we dissect the episodes of Corrie that were shown in the UK between the 18th and the 22nd July (Episodes #10693 - 10698).
This week was pretty rough for poor Kelly, who gets the Andy Carver treatment by being locked in a dank cellar by a narked villain. Fortunately for her, her stay at Weatherfield's least inviting AirBnB was cut short after a couple of episodes, and her rescue has led her to view Gary in quite a different light... Also this week, the local marriage guidance counsellor is coining it in after getting no less than three visits from Fiz, the salon gets a makeover and Frank finally shows his true colours when he lays into Dylan after a football injury.
In The Kabin segment of the podcast, we run down all the nominations in this year's Inside Soap Awards, and we round off the podcast with more of your lovely listener feedback, including a voicemail from Canada!

Corrie’s First Fifty Years
Thursday Jul 21, 2022
Thursday Jul 21, 2022
For the past two and a half years, we've been working our way through the DVD box sets of Corrie between 1960 and 2009, supplemented with a few more episodes sourced elsewhere for good measure! In this episode of the podcast, we reflect on our overall thoughts of the experience. Did our first ever viewing of some of the very early episodes live up to expectations? Who were some of our newly discovered favourite characters, and is there anyone from more recent times that we've changed our minds about after seeing them a second time round? Which episodes would we particularly recommend to someone looking to take the plunge into classic Corrie? We discuss all this and more in this week's bonus podcast!

Saturday Jul 16, 2022
On our latest podcast, we chat about what happened on Corrie between the 11th and the 15th July (Episodes #10687- 10692).
There's someone about Maria this week, as the crimper-cum-councillor finds she's being stalked - but who could it be? Don't worry, though - in a not at all soap phrase of doom moment, Kelly remarks that SHE has never felt safer... Meanwhile, despite openly snogging in public at the end of last week's episodes, Tyrone and Fiz decide to keep their rekindled romance a secret until she can get an annulment from Phill. Also this week, Ed's in for a shock over at Chariot Square, Tim tries to spice things up by Voggling for some 'normal' adult videos and the disharmony in the Platt household causes Stephen to return to Milan - but has he gone back for good?
Up next on the podcast, we celebrate the news of Sally Carman and Joe Duttine's recent nuptials, and we finish off the show with more of your feedback.

Alf Roberts Character Profile
Thursday Jul 14, 2022
Thursday Jul 14, 2022
A character dating back to the very early days of the show, Corrie legend Alf Roberts was a mainstay on the cobbles for nearly forty years, earning the respect of his neighbours as a local councillor and mayor, as well as the adoration of many a Coronation Street viewer. Though nowhere near as experienced as fellow long-timer Ken Barlow when it came to women, Alf was linked with a few lovely ladies in the early days including Maggie Clegg and Renee Bradshaw, but of course it was his partnership with Audrey for which he is best known and most loved. In this character profile, we take an in-depth look at Alf's life story, including some of his most memorable scenes and episodes.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 4th and the 8th July (Episodes #10681 - 10686). In fact, that's pretty much all we manage this week - for various reasons, we've had to make this a Street Talk only episode, but it's still a good couple of hours long even so!
The main story this week was the big wedding of Fiz and Phill. Many of us had been wondering for a while whether it would actually take place or if she would instead opt for the much anticipated reunion with Tyrone. Well, it turned out to actually be a bit of both - and there are definitely some strongly opposing views on the podcast about that particular outcome! Also this week, Audrey puts the Platts to the test when she reveals she's leaving all her cash to WARTS (excellent callback, by the way!), Steve manages to get himself scammed when he pays for someone to fix his roof, and Spider follows in the footsteps of Wendy and Stephen by coming back for two episodes before disappearing off screen again for a bit - but be certainly loved what little of him we did see!

Coronation Street In The 00s Part 2: 2005 - 2009
Tuesday Jul 05, 2022
Tuesday Jul 05, 2022
It's been a a very long time coming, but in this episode of the podcast, we finally get round to chatting about the episodes of Corrie that we've been watching from the 2005-2009 era. This takes us very close to the start of the podcast, so parts of it felt very recent to us, but how did this affect our enjoyment of the show? This period saw the rise of Demon David, the violent death of Charlie Stubbs, and the beginnings of Tony Gordon's descent into villainy. There were also some fantastic shorter stories too, like the appearance of Norris' estranged brother Ramsay. We also got the introduction of two of our then favourite characters, Carla and Becky, but which of them did we find a bit of a disappointment the second time round? Overall, this may not have been a golden era for Corrie in our eyes, but we still had a blast chatting about our time watching it, so we hope you enjoy listening!

Conversation Street Episode 529
Saturday Jul 02, 2022
Saturday Jul 02, 2022
On out latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 27th June and the 1st July 2022 (Episodes #10675- 10680).
This week, the online anti-Maria campaign gets knocked up a notch when Weatherfield's esteemed councillor gets deepfaked into a porn video. Congrats, Coronation Street - you've actually made us feel a bit of sympathy for Maria for once! Honestly, Alf Roberts and Len Fairclough never had to put up with this kind of thing... Meanwhile, Friday's episode saw a trio of rovers returning to the cobbles in the form of Nicky, Mimi and of course, the arachnidan activist himself, Spider Nugent! It's been nearly 20 years since we last saw this fan favourite character on the Street, and thankfully, he doesn't seem to have changed one bit! Also this week, Peter sees red after the case against Thorne is dropped, George and Todd plot to expose Frank for the bully he really is, and Aaron plans a Summer holiday.
Up next on the podcast, we take a quick visit to The Kabin, where we discuss a couple of special events that Coronation Street: The Tour are organising over the next few months, and we round off the show with more of your listener feedback.

2022: Our Reflections On The Year So Far
Tuesday Jun 28, 2022
Tuesday Jun 28, 2022
We've reached the end of June, and that can only mean one thing: our annual mid-year look at how Corrie has been shaping up in the first half of 2022. We remember the year getting off to a bit of a ropey start when Gemma, Chesney and Joseph were put front and centre, alongside the misadventures of Emma and Faye, but things have certainly changed for the better, at least in our eyes, with the Abi, Toyah and Imran story, even if there's been one casualty there that we certainly wouldn't have wanted... In this discussion, we take a look at which stories and scenes have really stuck with us, which have been a bit of a miss, and think about how we'd like certain stories to develop over the rest of the year.
