Conversation Street Episode 643

On this week's podcast, we cover the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 26th and the 30th August (Episodes #11,347 - 11,352).

You might have seen from our social media that we had another trip to Manchester last weekend, and although we sadly weren't able to see Barbara Knox at Pride, we did take a trip to the Coronation Street Experience again, this time with some family members in tow. Before we kick off the Street Talk segment this week, we chat a bit about our time there, including a few small changes to the tour since our last visit, plus our Star Tour encounter with Antony Cotton. And yes, we were still able to keep the existence of the podcast a secret from our family while we were there too! 

Up next on the podcast, we move onto the meat of the show, this week's Street Talk. It had been long rumoured that Beth would be leaving Coronation Street this year, and this week she finally said her teary goodbyes to Weatherfield after being driven out of town by Kit. He wasn't the only shady villain roaming the Street this week either; in fact, Rowan and Joel were both up to no good too. However, whilst Rowan's starting to sweat after Amy CTRL-ALT-DELETEs out of her malware session, things are looking rosy for Joel as he's told the police are dropping the case against him. Speaking of the police, we got a new interior set for the station on Friday's episode - we thought it looked great, though we can't be the only ones concerned that Corrie's starting to feel more like The Bill every week...

Not a whole lot of big Corrie news this week, so we skip our trip to the Kabin, and round off the show with more of your lovely listener feedback.

Emrhys Cooper Interview

We've been loving watching Emrhys Cooper in the role of the manipulative Institute recruiter Rowan Cunliffe over the past few months, and in this interview, we chat to him about what's been going on in the storyline so far. What made Emrhys swap California for the cobbles? Will Rowan find redemption or face soap justice before the story's out? In our latest edition of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown between the 19th and the 23rd August 2024 (Episodes #11,341 - 11,346).

How brilliant was Monday's episode, eh? I don't think any of us were expecting Dee-Dee to work out the truth about Joel this long before the wedding date, but it looks like the slimy solicitor has still got a few tricks up his sleeve to evade capture... All exciting stuff, but did the follow-up to the big reveal get a bit TOO police-heavy? And speaking of all things legal, Beth's counterfeit capers get her in Kirk's bad books this week, whilst Alina discovers that if you stand up to your nail bar traffickers in court, you might just be getting a knock on the door from Heavy For Hire... Also this week, Toyah's pleased to hear that her her medical issues are all ova, but surely it's only a matter of time before her nookie with Nick comes to light...

Up next on the podcast, we find out Corrie which stars up for an NTA this year and check out a few new tour options at the Coronation Street Experience, then we round things off with some more of your feedback.

It's a big week for Toyah this week - not only does she have to deal with Nick's confession of love as she's recovering from major surgery, she's also roped into the whole blackmail plot with Rowan, who's demanding Nick pay him £20k by the end of the day - can't this poor girl catch a break? Meanwhile, the walls seem to be closing in on Joel - with both Dee-Dee and DS Swain starting to smell a rat, surely it can only be so long until he trips up and reveals his true colours? Also this week, Tyrone gets caught trying to get a DNA sample from Dorin, there's a new lodger at the Rovers and he's turning a few ladies' heads already, and Tracy makes a grand return to Weatherfield - and walks right into an argument with Cassie!

We Chat Lloyd Mullaney With Shipwrecked & Comatose Podcast

For this special episode, we team up with Mark from the Shipwrecked & Comatose podcast to chat all things Lloyd Mullaney, who of course was played by Red Dwarf star Craig Charles. With Mark never having watched an episode of Corrie before save for a handful of famous Lloyd clips, it was a lot of fun chatting about the character and how he was similar to - and different from - Dave Lister. Our discussion also covers some of Lloyd's biggest moments, the issues raised by stories such as Paul Kershaw's racist remarks, and what Mark found most surprising about his first experience watching our favourite soap. It'd been a long time coming, but this week, Alina popped back to Weatherfield to give evidence against her traffickers in court - and to the surprise of absolutely nobody watching, she didn't come alone...! And if this revelation isn't enough to rock the foundations of No. 9 on its own, Hope causes a bit of a furore this week too after coming back from the medical centre with a box of condoms - if only Tyrone and Joel had taken the same precautions, eh? Also this week, Sean's fuming to find Mason working at Speed Daal, Beth gets caught with her counterfeit goods and Amy's back from the retreat - but has she been brainwashed enough to hand over her inheritance to the Institute?

Dr Gaddas: A Decade of Badassery

This week marks ten years since Dr Gaddas first graced the cobbles of Weatherfield with her fabulous presence, and to mark the occasion, we chat about the impact she's had over the decade. Why is she such a fan favourite despite making only a handful of appearances each year? Would we like to see her become a regular in the vein of DS Swain? And which Corrie characters have got Gaddas to thank for still being in the land of the living? All this, plus a look at some of the other projects that actress Christine Mackie has got up to over the years - and she's certainly been keeping herself busy! Conversation Street Episode 639

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown between the 29th July and the 2nd August (Episodes #11,323 - 11,327).

Not gonna lie, this was definitely a bit of a 'meh' week for us this week, despite some clearly dramatic things going down on the cobbles. From Lauren's early labour to the whodunnit surrounding the fire at Stefan's office, it was all very exciting on paper... but yeah, we just weren't really feeling it. Did that stop us having a right old laugh discussing everything that was going on, though? Of course not! And we DID get to see more of the marvellous Debbie Webster, plus we were definitely satisfied with the ongoing developments in Paul's story too! And will Alina be popping back onto the Street soon... maybe with a tiny Tyrone in tow..? Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Very little in the way of news again this week, so we give the Kabin a miss again, but we did of course get a bundle of feedback about last week's fantastic Paul and Billy special, so we round off the episode reading out some of your thoughts.

Corrieliminator Round 4
