Conversation Street Episode 58

On this week's Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 1st and the 4th September in the UK. It seems like time is a common theme on the show this week - as Roy sits looking at the clock during Hayley's operation, time's surely running out for a desperate Karl, who's going to whatever lengths he can to keep Craig quiet. Meanwhile, Michelle's getting stressed out by all the extra hours she's putting in at the factory, and Sinead decides it's time to give Chesney another chance. In the news section, we catch up with the latest news from the Celebrity Big Brother house, then ask 'Is there anything that Katy can do to be less boring?' in the feedback section. To mark the tenth anniversary of his departure from the show, this week in the character profile section we point our telescope in the direction of everyone's favourite supermarket manager-cum-astronomer, Curly Watts.

Conversation Street Episode 57

On this week's podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 26th and the 28th August. With no Friday episodes of Corrie this week, Street Talk is a little shorter than usual, but there's still plenty of chat about Sally and Anna's 'barbefeud', the Street's latest newborn and the neverending love triangle between Chesney, Katy and Sinead. We also celebrate the return of Roy and Hayley to the Street, even if it does mean that the Norris-Mary-Emily house sharing story we were looking forward to never materialised. In the news section, we share our thoughts about the real reason for Stephanie Cole's quick departure, catch up with how Bruce and Vicky are doing in the Celebrity Big Brother house, and uncover a new way to deter those pesky people who keep disturbing your Corrie watching session to try and and sell you things down the phone! This week's character profile is the recently departed fireman, Paul Kershaw.

Conversation Street Episode 56

This week on the podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 19th and the 23rd August. There were absolutely loads of storylines mixed into this week's episodes, including the end of the racism story, the continuation of Karl's desperation to cover up his involvement in the Rovers fire, and the start of a new dawn for Chesney and Katy. For us, though, it was Sally's garden party preparations (who knew you could do fish fingers, chips and beans on the barbecue?) and Brian's musings about hitting the big 5-0 that were the highlights of the week. The real drama, of course, happened off-screen this week, and we spend a chunk of time discussing our own and listeners' opinions about Chris Fountain's sacking. We were both pleased to see Bruce Jones and Vicky Entwhistle show up on Celebrity Big Brother on Thursday, so we decided to make our character profile all about Les Battersby.

Conversation Street Episode 55

On this week's episode of Conversation Street, we celebrate the podcast's one year anniversary, as well as discussing the Corrie episodes shown in the UK between the 12th and the 16th August. Nick's not the only one fighting for his life this week, as Rita comes under attack from a bunch of teenagers on the Red Rec. Scary stuff indeed, although maybe not quite as terrfying as the prospect now faced by Craig of having the ever-creepy Karl as his best friend for the rest of his life. Meanwhile, we chat about the pros and cons of banning jogging bottoms and ponder whether a blast of Adam Rickett's 'Breathe Again' is just what Nick needs to get him out of his coma. In the character profile section, we say sayonara Kamara and take a look back on Mandy's brief time on the Street, then roll our eyes at Chris Fountain's off-screen antics in the news section. Feedback this week mostly centres around a discussion on how well Beth has managed to step out of Cilla's shadow.

Conversation Street Episode 54

This week on the podcast, we talk about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 2nd and 9th of August. We're back from our holiday, which means seven episodes to catch up with in Street Talk - it definitely turns out to be a long one! The main topic of conversation is, of course, the smashing time that Nick and David had during their late night drive on Monday evening. As David recalls the events of the accident to the police, can he avoid the finger of suspicion being pointed his way? And is the storyline enough of a distraction for Tina to stop her becoming embroiled once more in the lives of Gary and Izzy? We can only hope.. Meanwhile, we say hello to Rob and Tracy's new business venture, and goodbye to Mandy, who's no doubt gone off to meddle in the lives of some poor folk in Widdenshaw.

Conversation Street Episode 53

This week on the podcast, we chat about the Coronation Street episodes broadcast between the 29th and 31st July in the UK. Much like a couple of Corrie characters who've been in a long, exhausting storyline, we're off on holiday tomorrow, so we're keeping it relatively short this week! In Street Talk, we wonder whether things have finally turned a corner for Lloyd and Paul, and if it's the end of the road for Sophie and Jenna. Meanwhile, David's attempts to drive Nick and Leanne apart hit another roadblock. But enough of the random car-based metaphors! In The Kabin, we ask if Helen Flanagan is right when she says she has the best pair of airbags she's even seen (okay, just one more!) and finally take a look at the latest pictures from the new Corrie set - which leads into a discussion of our dreadful knowledge of Weatherfield geography!

Conversation Street Episode 52

This week on Conversation Street, we chat about the Corrie episodes broadcast in the UK between the 22nd and the 26th July. There are some wonderful scenes this week between Roy, Hayley and Sylvia, ranging from the bittersweet humour of Roy's sleep-cleaning to the shocking revelation that Hayley only has a one in five chance of surviving the pancreatic cancer she's developed. Hats off to Alison King's acting this week too - we've loved seeing her play both the caring boss to Hayley and the excited newly engaged fiancée to Peter. Elsewhere on the Street, Marcus just isn't man enough to deal with Audrey's damp patch, leaving Owen to take control, and the racism story begins to get just a bit silly. With the big C on our minds this week, we look at fan favourite Alma Halliwell in the character profile section, and in The Kabin we discuss Corrie's latest batch of award nominations.

On this week's Conversation Street, we chat about the Corrie episodes broadcast in the UK between the 15th and the 19th July. Things go from bad to worse at Barlow's Bookies this week, as both Steve and Rob have a spot of luck at Peter's expense. With the odds he's been offering, it's a bit of a surprise that we haven't seen Norris having a bit of a flutter, as it begins to dawn on him what the financial implications of being a homeowner really are. Meanwhile, there's some devastating news for Hayley at the medical centre... the dishy Doctor Carter has upped and left! Oh, and she might also have cancer. Speaking of Doctor Carter, he goes under the spotlight in our character profile section. Congratulations are in order for new mum Katy Cavanagh in our news section, and we also take a look at the always entertaining Helen Flanagan's latest career move.

You'd be hard pressed to find a place for a quiet drink on the Street this week - at one end, Paul's under fire as a racism row breaks out in the Rovers, while over at the Bistro, sneaky David continues to do his best to cause friction between Nick and Leanne. And think you can escape all this by going to your local club? Not if scorned woman Katy is on your case... For a bit of a change for our 50th show, instead of the character profile, we pit some our favourite characters against each other in a new segment called... Street Fighter! Who'd come out on top in a battle to the death between David Platt and Hilda Ogden? Tune in to find out...
