In this special episode of podcast, we take a look back at the past twelve months in Weatherfield, and announce the winners of the Conversation Street Awards 2013. Which characters have shone above all the rest, to be crowned Top Lad and Top Lass? Which shocking moment aroused the biggest By 'Eck? Whose nefarious deeds have seen them crowned the 2013's Wrong 'Un? And Flamin' Nora! Just who has been the gingerest of the gingers? All this and more, including the winner of the prestigious That's Champion award for best storyline, are revealed in Episode 75!

Conversation Street Episode 74

On this week's episode of Conversation Street, we discuss the Christmas episodes of Corrie, broadcast in the UK between the 22nd and the 27th December. Father Christmas' Naughty List must be extra long this year, after Nick smacks Leanne, Kylie ends up behind bars, and Tina and Peter steal another kiss... and we don't think he takes too kindly to people knocking down Christmas trees either, Hayley! (Okay, maybe we'll let it slide, under the circumstances...) At least we had the comedy antics of Steve and Deirdre to keep us feeling festive. There's some good news about Christmas ratings in the Kabin this week, while in the feedback section, we discuss a recent continuity error that we'd missed.

Conversation Street Episode 73

This week on the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 16th and the 20th December. It's certainly been a week of big moves: Packham's packed up, ready for his move to Wales, Tina's moving onto her next man, and Gloria seems to be making the moves on Dennis. Meanwhile, history repeats itself as a drunk parent shows up at the Bessie Street Nativity, but it may not be who you were expecting... In the news section of the show, we share our thoughts on Corrie's contribution to this year's Text Santa appeal, and take a look at the Christmas scheduling for the UK and Canada. Our character profile of the week is bumbling teacher Brian Packham - pay attention: there will be a test!

Voting for Round 2 of the Conversation Street Awards 2013 now open

Thanks to everyone who voted in the first round of the Conversation Street Awards 2013. The survey for round 2 is now open - follow this link to be taken to the page. There, you'll be able to cast your vote in the Flamin' Nora, 'Ello Luv, Ecky Thump, Bobbins and That's Champion! categories (don't forget to scroll down a few posts from here for a list of nominees, as well as YouTube links for clips of the best fights).

As we will mention on Episode 73 of the podcast, we've also decided to change how the final winners will be decided: rather than Michael and Gemma always making the final decision for each award, we will instead be casting twenty-five votes each in the survey. That means that if the majority of listener votes is different to our own, we'll go with your winners!

The final results will be revealed in our end of year review show, which should be online in the first few days of January. Now get voting!

Conversation Street Episode 72

This week on Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 8th and the 13th December in the UK. It's confession time this week, as David is convinced by Nick to turn himself in to the police, whilst Brian finally bucks up the courage to come clean to Julie. It seems that it's just Todd who doesn't have a conscience, as he continues to stir up as much trouble as he can. Meanwhile, as Dev's mission to keep fit gets serious, Dennis has got a new project of his own, and Rita's not happy... There's no character profile this week, but we spend the next part of the podcast kicking of our Conversation Street Awards 2013, before salivating over the proposals for next year's Coronation Street set tour.

Conversation Street Awards 2013 Nominations

We've nearly reached the end of 2013, and what a year it's been! Just like last year, we're planning to record a special episode of the podcast in late December / early January that will look at the past twelve months in Weatherfield, and make some predictions for the year ahead. The episode will also see the return of our Conversation Street Awards, where we decide which characters and storylines have been most worthy of praise in 2013. The five nominations for each award can be found below.

Although we will be making the final decision about the overall winners, we'd really love to hear which nominee you think deserves each award.  If, for any awards, we cannot come to an agreement about which nominee should win, we'll go with your choice, so don't think that your vote counts for nothing!

Conversation Street Episode 71

On this week's show, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 2nd and the 6th December in the UK. Put on your fanciest hat because it's wedding time again; this week we see Peter making Carla an honest woman, but just how honest is the groom being himself? As David struggles to live with the heartache of being separated from his family, Dev tries to avoid a different kind of heartache altogether by starting up a fitness regime. Meanwhile, Hayley agonises over the second coming of Christian, which is the main talking point in our feedback section. In our character profile section, we take a look back to one of Peter's previous wives (or was she?) - the lovely Shelley Unwin.

Conversation Street Episode 70

On this week's podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 25th and the 29th November 2013. The tinsel's up in the Rovers, which means it's time to get out our jingly Christmas theme tune! Yes, there's a chill in the Weatherfield air, and things are definitely looking frosty between Grace and Faye following last week's humiliation of Simon. Meanwhile, there's a serious case of cold feet over at Underworld, as Peter has doubts about his wedding to Carla. Off-screen, there was big news in Corrie world this week, as the new set was officially opened. We take a look at the photos and share our thoughts on how it's turned out, before rounding off with some feedback. Our character profile this week is of Simon Barlow.

Conversation Street Episode 69

On Episode 69 of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 17th and the 22nd November. This week, Brian reveals to Marcus that he's giving up on teaching and can't stand children, and looking at the likes of Grace, who's getting viler by the episode, we can hardly blame him! Meanwhile, someone who hasn't lost his passion for education is Steve, as he begins his weekly skive at night school. Qualifications aren't everything though, of course, as Sinead manages to find out by strolling into a factory job without even trying! In the Kabin section, we preview next year's World of Coronation Street tour, whilst the feedback section sees us pondering which Corrie characters would make the best companion for Doctor Who.
