Conversation Street Episode 199

It's one week to go until our 200th episode, and this week, we talk about Coronation Street between the 9th and the 13th May. Not too bad a set of episodes, but we did feel like there were a lot of characters being unreasonably gittish to other people First there was Roy, back from Hastings and jumping down Cathy's throat for buying an 'expresso' machine; next there was Jason refusing to let his mum into Tony's funeral even though she hadn't done anything wrong; then there's Caitlin snubbing Craig on their date at the Bistro, Sally still being nasty to Jenny... the list goes on! Thank goodness for smiley little Jack showing up on Wednesday to warm our hearts! After Street Talk, Zeedan Nazir is the focus of our character profile, and as you might imagine, there's quite a bit of talk about how his beliefs are handled on Corrie. The Kabin segment has a bit of a musical theme, as we learn about new side projects from Catherine Tyldesley and Bruno Langley, then we finish off the show with some listener feedback. On our latest podcast, we dissect the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 18th and the 22nd April. Fans of Michelle beware: she does not come off lightly from our discussion of her storyline this week! It was only a few weeks ago that we were saying how much the character has turned a corner recently; little did we know that this diversion would lead her into the arms - and bed! - of another man... Speaking of awkward romantic entanglements, Caz is back on the Street this week having injured herself in some kind of parachuting incident. Rather than tumbling to her death, though, she's simply landed herself on Kate's sofa with her feet up - and she really isn't happy! Meanwhile, Phelan's up to his old tricks again, breaking into the community centre in order to stop an anti-Frescho meeting. He'd better watch his back, though, as fellow supervillain Todd is on his case! In The Kabin, we talk about the rumours of Paddy McGuiness' character returning to the show, then hear from an American listener who can no longer rely on Hulu for her Corrie watching in the feedback section. On the show this week, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 11th and the 15th April 2016. Maria's back, everyone! Did we really notice she was gone? Hardly, but at least she had a comeback storyline that we found (though certainly silly) genuinely funny. This week also saw the return of Captain Gingerbeard himself, Dodgy Dane, who provides Gary with some weed that's supposedly mellower than the last lot. Turns out that mellow is the last thing Izzy's feeling by the end of the week... Our favourite comeback of all this week though, was Crazy Nick, who's been sadly overshadowed by alter ego Boring Nick in recent months. More, please! After Street Talk, we take a look back over the past three years of Corrie and weigh up the pros and cons of Stuart Blackburn's time as producer. There's some bad news for American Corrie watchers in The Kabin, and we finish off the show with one final return - it's Tvor, back from her hols in the feedback segment!

This week, Kate and Sophie get a little too close for Caz's liking, and by the second episode on Friday the engagement's off. Maybe Saskia should take a leaf out of their book too, as it's seems obvious to us that Will's heart isn't in their wedding either. Can Michelle resist the temptation of getting back with her old flame? Meanwhile, Tim has to remind Sally of her own wedding vows, as she continues to try and change him into her idea of what a councillor's husband should be. Honestly - Weatherfield weddings really should come with a pre-nup thrown in as standard! In The Kabin, we talk about Corrie's chances in this year's British Soap Awards, then we round off the show with some reader emails. For our character profile, we peel back the folded arms and investigate the past decade on the Street for Michelle Connor.

Conversation Street Episode 193

Our latest podcast covers the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 28th March and the 1st April. There's a new face in town this week, as Michelle's ex Will shows up at the Rovers. To be honest, we're not super excited by this storyline, although it does signal the imminent return of Steve to the cobbles, which is certainly no bad thing! Elsewhere on the Street, its time for Sarah to bring Harry home from hospital, but will she be able to live with the fact that he reminds her of Callum? At least he won't be the only son of a drug dealer on the cobbles though - there's always Jake too! This week, Gary gets some stronger weed in an attempt to help Izzy out with her pain (translation: stop her whinging on so much) and the results are... well, not intentionally funny, but they certainly gave us our biggest laugh of the week! After Street Talk, we answer some of your listener questions, including what we'd like to see as the next spin off DVD special, then after that, we discuss some recent interview snippets from Kate Oakes in The Kabin. We round off the show with a short feedback section.

Happy Easter, everyone! On this weekend's podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 21st and the 25th March. This week, Sarah Louise and Todd get all teary when remembering their baby Billy, and not wanting to feel left out, the latest member of Team Platt chooses that moment to make an earlier than expected appearance. Meanwhile, there's a new boss at the Bistro (no Tracy, it's not you!) and following Eileen's Mike-drop last week, Mr Whippy of Weatherfield plans to head to Brighton for the summer - but can Gail stop him in time? In The Kabin segment of the show, we discuss Bill Roache's recent comments about Anne Kirkbride, before reading out a bunch of lovely listener emails in the feedback section. Our classic character profile this week is on everyone's favourite bimbo barmaid, Raquel Watts.

On the latest Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 14th and the 18th March 2016. This week, Phelan's diabolical scheme to become the latest notch on Eileen's bedpost comes to fruition, giving Gail the perfect opportunity to swoop back in on Michael. Meanwhile, would-be detectives Eva and Billy (spinoff please, ITV?) go on a stakeout outside the O'Driscoll mansion when they become convinced that Marta is still inside. Finally,  election day comes to Weatherfield on Friday, and although we felt it was a little anti-climactic, we were certainly pleased with the result! After Street Talk, we delve back into the discussion started last week on character archetypes, covering personalities such as the lover, the creator and the magician (we had a bit of a struggle with some of these ones!) before  sharing our thoughts on Hayley Tamaddon's performance in Chicago in The Kabin. On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 7th and 11th March. This week, Michael ends up in hospital after taking a tumble, giving Phelan the perfect opportunity to move in on Eileen. We're still not sure what his end game is, but we're certainly enjoying finding out! Meanwhile, Eva and Billy track down Marta, who's living rough in Bolton. By the end of the week, she's supposedly flown back to Poland, but Eva has a suspicion that it's not quite over yet. Over in the salon, there's an unexpected visitor in the form of Gemma. Nobody's particularly happy to see her at first, but when she mentions speaking to Callum recently, David smells the perfect opportunity for an alibi... Next up, we move onto the first half of a two-part feature discussion on Jungian archetypes in Corrie (quite possibly the most pretentious thing we've ever said in an episode blurb!) then discuss bizarre rumours of cast upset over dodgy props in The Kabin segment. We finish off the show with some feedback, including whether Sarah's forgotten about her dead baby Billy!
