Conversation Street Episode 219

On our latest podcast, we discuss the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 26th and 30th September in the UK. Some sad episodes for dog lovers this week, as Ozzy falls foul of Corrie's 'fine one minute, gone the next' curse. As he heads to the big dog kennel in the sky, crazy Caz sees an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and get closer to Maria. Speaking of taking advantage, Alya jumps at the chance to blackmail Sharif this week in order to get her lingerie side-line off the ground, and Sharif has to resort to desperate measures to  secure a flat for Sonia. Meanwhile, Todd does his best to try and win back gullible Billy, and we finally get to find out what made him turn to the dark side when he was living in London. After Street Talk, we try out a (kind of) new segment for the podcast: a character profile revisit. It's been more than 200 episodes since our last profile of Mary Taylor, and this week we take a look back over the past four years to see how things have changed for her. In The Kabin, we find out the shortlist for the Inside Soap Awards, and we end the show with feedback from three lovely listeners.

After Street Talk, we chat with Glenda Young about her recently released Coronation Street Colouring Book, before covering a couple of news stories involving Jack P Shepherd in The Kabin. This week's Conversation Street covers the episodes broadcast in the UK between the 12th and the 17th September. Strap yourselves in, folks - this podcast is a bit of a long one, thanks in part to some excellent plot developments in the show that we just couldn't stop talking about! First off, Beth's big secret is finally revealed, and it's something we were NOT expecting. Yes, her bigamous bombshell does seem to have split up yet another happy soap couple, but for the sheer drama it's caused (plus the fact it was kept quiet by ITV), we kind of don't mind! Next up, we have the Pat's Flats story, and THAT rooftop scene - incredibly tense stuff, and we can't wait to find out what happens next week. Then we have Billy considering leaving his position in the church over some silly fling with Todd... What's that? They love each other? Hmm... We're still not convinced. Street Talk is followed by an extended discussion of how religion has been portrayed on Corrie over the years. From Ena Sharples and Emily Bishop to Billy Mayhew and Zeedan Nazir, we cover a lot of ground here, and yes - that even includes the Cult of Nirab! In the news section, we review this year's must-have Christmas present for any Corrie fan: The Official Coronation Street Colouring Book, before hearing one listener tell us how she's growing to appreciate Maria in the feedback section.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 5th and the 9th September. The crazy Platt brothers are on fine form this week - first there's Nick, who kidnaps Steve and threatens to tell Michelle the truth about Leanne's baby's father; then on Friday, David unleashes his inner Sweeney Todd by giving Lauren a hair-raising experience in the barber's chair. Meanwhile, Todd's disdain for Billy's faith causes problems in the bedroom, and Caz prepares to make the moves on Maria. Next up, we do a classic character profile on Maxine Peacock, the hair stylist whose life was cut short thanks to serial killer Richard Hillman (she really should have stayed at that party...). We then celebrate Shayne Ward's win at the TV Choice Awards and take a look at the red carpet fashion from the Corrie ladies and gents. This is followed by the usual feedback, then the show finishes off with news of another character's return  to the cobbles (or will it be two more characters?) in Kabin Extra.

On our latest show, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 29th August and the 2nd September. This week, Jenny's undercover work for Johnny leads to a full on strike from the factory workers after he discovers they've been watching a movie when they should have been working. The tables are turned on Friday, though, when he and Jenny are the ones caught getting up to naughty business! Meanwhile, Liz struggles to come to terms with fake grandma-to-be Gail mooning over Leanne's unborn child - can she keep her mouth shut for Steve's sake? Also this week, Craig gets an unexpected birthday surprise in the form of some revelations about his father. Next up, Michael chats with Corrie fan, artist and local historian Paul Lanagan about his trip to the Corrie set last weekend for the 'I Am Team GB' event. In the Kabin, we discuss how a seemingly offhand remark by Eva made front page news this week - were the complaints about it justified, or was the whole affair just a storm in a teacup? We finish off the podcast with a bit more Nazir discussion in the feedback section.

On this weekend's podcast, we discuss the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast between the 22nd and the 26th August. So...what about that Sharif, eh? A secret affair behind Yasmeen's back all this time! Believable? Maybe not. The start of an interesting story for the underused Nazirs? Could well be! There were also some great twists in the Leanne story this week too, first when Tracy finds out about her and Nick's visit to the antenatal department at Weatherfield General, and next when the couple decide to announce that Nick's the father - the looks on Steve and Liz's faces were priceless! After Street Talk, we ponder the future of the Platts and the Nazirs in the listener question segment, before discussing ITV's latest tease about the upcoming sixth weekly episode in The Kabin. We round off the show, as always, with some more of your listener feedback, including whether David's criminal record could affect his potential adoption of Max.

On the fourth anniversary of Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 15th and the 19th August. Although there were a few side stories involving the likes of Gemma, Izzy and the Nazirs this week, the main focus was on Leanne's continuing attempts to get through her pregnancy with as few people actually knowing about it as possible, and the aftermath of Aidan and Maria's night of inter-Connor congress. So basically, the lesson we learn this week is that one night stands may seem fun at the time, but they don't half cause a lot of drama afterwards! After Street talk, we do a character profile on Craig Tinker, finding out what he's achieved in his five years on the show and discussing what we'd like to see from him in the future. We then move onto the Kabin, where we talk about Catherine Tydesley's out-of-nowhere single release this week, and finish things off with some listener feedback.

Conversation Street Episode 212

This week on the podcast, we take you with us on a short tour of the North - first off, join us as we visit the Blackpool Tower, Tower Ballroom and the Strand Hotel, and relive some of the Corrie scenes that have taken place there over the years. Next, we head over to Manchester, where we do a bit of crazy gate stalking at Media City and have a couple of unexpected encounters with some of the cast! In the second half of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast over the week, between the 8th to the 12th August. It's all cops and Roberts on Monday, when Nick reports his rival to the boys in blue for drink driving, and Craig fills out his application to become a special constable. He's not the only one who wants to do his bit to help out the community either, as Gemma signs up for the Weatherfield Good Samaritan scheme and sets her sights on helping out Rita. However, Rita may not be as receptive to Gemma's good deeds as she'd hoped! As it's a bit of a different episode this week, we don't have the usual news or feedback this time but we'll be back to normal next time!

This weekend's podcast covers the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 1st and the 5th August. We do Street Talk a bit differently this week - as much of Monday and Wednesday's episodes of Corrie had such intertwining storylines - mostly centred around Kylie's funeral and Sean's discovery of Todd and Billy's relationship and the resultant fallout - we chat about the scenes pretty much in the order that they happened, rather than dealing with one storyline at a time. Hopefully our discussion doesn't turn out too jumbled, and you enjoy it all the same! After Street Talk we do a feature discussion on memorable pregnancies on Coronation Street. One night stands, affairs, "Who's the Daddy?" stories and - shockingly - some just plain old pregnancies between married couples all get discussed in this segment, as well as how the show has dealt with terminations and miscarriages over the years. There are a few controversial subjects touched upon for sure, so hopefully we don't offend anyone - we don't mean to, honest! Next up, we talk about the recently announced Coronation Street Colouring Book in the news section, before finishing off with some listener feedback.

Our latest podcast sees us discussing the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 25th and 29th July. Jenny's manipulative streak shows itself again this week when  she tries to make Johnny jealous by snogging Singh in front of him. It works, though, and not only are the couple back together by Wednesday, but Jenny's also the new factory spy! Speaking of undercover action, the situation caused by Steve's night between the sheets with Leanne gets even more complicated this week when Michelle decides she wants a baby of her own. So, two little McDonalds born at the same time early next year, then? We'd bet on it! Next up, we do a classic character profile on Liam Connor, before moving into the Kabin to celebrate some baby news for Paula Lane. We finish off the show with some listener emails that cover a range of topics, including Kylie's death, the CBC Corrie schedules during the Olympics and whether someone can have room in their heart for more than one soap!
