Conversation Street Episode 335

After Street Talk, we have a character profile on Gina Seddon - a real favourite of ours in the current character list - where we look back at her roots in 80s Corrie, how Connie Hyde has added a new dimension to her modern incarnation, and how her battles with bipolar disorder are portrayed. There are a couple of small news items to mull over in The Kabin, then we round off the show with some mixed opinions on last week's four-hander in the feedback section.

This week on the podcast, we cover the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 29th October and the 2nd November, which can mean only one thing: Halloween special! Though Corrie didn't particularly do much for our Gemma's favourite holiday this year beyond a bit of a dress up in the Rovers, the spectre of death still loomed over a number of characters this week, none more so than Sinead, whose predicament was so dire that she even got her own special episode on Monday. We talk about our reactions to this (kind of) four hander, discussing what worked and what didn't for us, as well as mulling over whether we'd like to see this kind of thing more often on Corrie. Also this week, not only is Ali 'Doctor Death' Neeson still being haunted by his actions after the car crash a few weeks ago, he also has a wailing banshee to contend with in the form of his mum Michelle. Meanwhile, Steve returns from the desert looking like something out of a horror movie, and Nick gets his claws into factory. Speaking of Underworld, we hope you've got a spare pair of pants ready for the next section of the podcast, as it's time for some Corrie ghost stories! With some spooky music in the background, we recount four chilling tales of the paranormal from Coronation Street's past. We had loads of fun putting together this bit as it's something quite different for the podcast, so we hope you enjoy it! Conversation Street Episode 331

On our latest podcast, we chat about the big week of Corrie episodes broadcast in the UK between the 8th and the 12th October. There were high expectations for this set of episodes, what with a couple of weddings, big secrets revealed and a deadly car crash all teased, but did it live up to the hype? On the whole, we'd say a resounding yes! Sure, Daniel and Sinead's 'not really a real wedding' ceremony could have been better, but we loved the action at Steve and Tracy's nuptials, the drama of Liz discovering the truth about Jim and Hannah and surprise twists of who got hurt - and how! - after the car chase. (Sure, Michelle lived to nag another day, but you can't have everything, right?) All that, plus another superb performance from Sally Ann Matthews as the reality of Johnny's infidelity began to dawn on Jenny, all made for a pretty great week! After Street Talk, we've got a classic character profile on Daryll Morton following actor Jonny Dixon's appearance on Doctor Who last week. To be honest, there's not much to say about Daryll, but it did give us a chance to try and figure out where it all went wrong with the Morton family, and wonder if there really is some kind of curse on anyone who moves into number 6.. There are a couple of small news bites to cover in the Kabin next, then we finish the episode off with a bit of a bumper feedback section.

Ever since the rumours of Jim returning to the show with a grown-up dead baby Katie in tow first hit the Internet, many Corrie fans have been insensed about the prospect of such a grubby rewriting of one of the McDonalds' finest early moments. This week, we finally got to see it begin to play out on screen, and despite it turning out to be more of a con than a retcon, it seems that for many viewers, the story's still not exactly going down well. This episode, we weigh in with our thoughts on this, as well as our impressions of Evelyn Plummer, the Battersbeeb love triangle, Ryan and Ali's jolly caperings, and the downright bizarre football app story. After Street Talk, we have the first part of our Kate Oates retrospective, where we focus on what we see as the positive aspects of her tenure as producer. From our favourite characters and storylines to her hallmarks such as keeping certain big twists hidden before broadcast, we reminise about everything great about Kate.
